The desired site is in one of the three downtown alleys which are currently being designed to be improved in early 2010, but other sites downtown will be considered. The artwork should be designed to allow visitors to the Square an opportunity to engage with the artist(s) while they are working on site. The Downtown Development Authority is seeking a personable artist who welcomes this interaction. The total contract amount for all applicable expenses, which includes all fees for consulting with the alley design team, the design, fabrication on site for a minimum of 25 hours a week (must include some weekends) for up to 3 1/2 months, transportation, site preparation, and installation of all artwork selected as well -as a project plaque, shall be an amount not to exceed $45,000. This budget is all inclusive, and should include any travel expenses. Budget will be determined by final art concept. The Selection Committee can, at its discretion, choose one artist/team or divide the time and budget between more than one artist/team. The artist's role would be to work with the alley design team to develop a final design, budget and final location for the "Art in Action" project. The materials and process for creating the artwork should be appropriate for on -site fabrication in Old Town Square. The final project design and location will need to be approved by the Downtown Development Authority Board. Questions for Interview Prior to the interview, it is suggested that the artist be prepared to discuss the following questions: 1. What expertise and sensibilities do you bring to this project? 2. The selected artist will be asked to develop the final concept for the artwork with the alley design team if an alley location is used. Each alley has a theme. One is sustainability, one is the history of Fort Collins and one is eclectic/bohemian. Can you tell us your initial concept for how your work might fit into one of the alleys? 3. One of the goals of this project is that the artist will engage the community. Can you tell us what's going to make your project exciting in the way it engages with visitors to Old Town Square? 4. As stated in the RFP, this project might be divided between more than one artist/team. Can you see moving forward with your project with a portion of the budget and a shorter time line?
