Our methodology
Squarei conducts Time & Materials Development projects using a
three-phase methodology:
Initial Scope. Squarei meets with you to discuss your needs. The scope
of your project is determined and the general requirements specified.
We will create a proposal outlining components and processes required
by the project. Your proposal will describe functionality to be included in
the first phase of your project as well as a cost estimate.
■ Detail Design. We will work with you to develop the detail system
design. This phase has two work products: 1) the Systems Specification
and 2) Acceptance Criteria documents.
■ Implementation. Squarei engineers will design and build the relational
data model, code procedures, and perform final system integration and
testing. The final stage is testing by your business and system
acceptance.

Profile
Colorado State University (CSU), located in Fort Collins, CO,
is one of the worlds foremost research universities. The
inter -library loan department leads the nation with it's
Rapid Access Processing & Information Delivery (RAPID)
system. The system is a fast, cost-effective, innovative
resource sharing system designed and implemented by
Colorado State University Libraries' Interlibrary Loan
department.
Situation
Prior to the Squarei and CSU Libraries partnership, the
RAPID system was designed using legacy technologies
without the ability to scale beyond a small set (eighteen) of
member libraries. Because of great demand for
membership in the cooperative system, CSU recognized
the need to re- architect the system using an object
oriented architecture atop the Microsoft .Net and SQL
Server platform.

CSU and Squarei entered into a multi -year development
project that called for the Squarei team to re -architect the
legacy application using standards based object oriented
development techniques. Squarei worked with the CSU
team of developers to completely re -write the highly
transactional application using the .Net framework and
service oriented architecture.

The new RAPID system was developed over the course of
one year and was delivered on -time and within budget. The
flexible design now allows for additional functional
enhancements that are developed in a fraction of the time.
RAPID will now scale to over two hundred member libraries
and is currently experiencing significant growth in member
libraries.
