Overview
Knots Away Massage is an on -site chair massage business that provides chair massage at events, in
businesses and, as in this proposal, in the downtown area on Oak Plaza. The pleasant setting of Oak
Plaza is an excellent site for massage as it has a quietness and calm not associated with the six other
locations available. I have personally spent much time on many occasions (before the construction)
sitting on the plaza and thoroughly enjoying it.
Criteria 1.
This applicant has less than one year experience in the operation of an outdoor on -site massage
service. The experience derives from the association with Steve Clinansmith of SXSRest Massage in
Austin, Texas. Steve may be reached at 512-477-5772. In addition, this applicant has worked two
outdoor sporting event massage events with Leslie Koehler of Tender Lomi Care, also in Austin,
Texas. Leslie can be reached at 512-680-3418.
Criteria 2
This applicant has no experience in the Fort Collins Downtown Plan Area, Note: The applicant will
have their first Fort Collins massage event at the Colorado Medieval Festival, June 2, 3 and 4.
Criteria 3
Chair massage sessions would cost $1 per minute and be provided by one to three therapists as demand
dictates. Sessions typically last between 15 and 30 minutes.
The suitability of massage as a concession on Oak Plaza is perfect in the opinion of this applicant. The
shady, calmer, a little less traveled nature of the plaza is well suited to the characteristics of massage,
which is all about relaxation and rejuvenation.
Massage as the concession at Site 3 has the added benefit of being a very clean concession, thereby
reducing the impact of cleaning needs.
Chair massage on Oak plaza would be an excellent addition to the downtown area and would
positively impact the experience of visitors to Fort Collins. (It has been my experience with chair
massage that a higher proportion of the customers are visitors to the area as opposed to the in -clinic
mix).
Criteria 4
This applicant does not require a cart to provide this service.
The set-up, as sketched below, would be comprised of a 10'x10' very good condition outdoor carpet with one
to three massage stations on it. Each massage station consists of a massage chair (example attachment 1), a
small supplies table and possibly a stool. The final element of the set-up is a 24"x48" table and chair to provide
an area to have a sign-up sheet, to process transactions and to store carrying bags and such under. A shade
canopy may be required to ensure the client's comfort.

Criteria 5
This applicant commits to the annual fee plus 3% of gross receipts. In addition, this applicant commits to an
additional 3% of gross receipts to equalize this proposal with other proposals due to this service being non-
taxable. Total: Annual fee plus 6% of gross receipts.
