(Our Clock) To all prospective bidders under the specification and contract documents described above, the following changes are hereby made. GENERAL CLARIFICATION 1. Fence grounding rods spacing has changed to attached specification below. 2. Bid Item #2 — Field Fabric Fence Bracing Section has increased in quantity from 7 to 9. This Section covers specific requirements for the furnishing of all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the installation of all permanent grounding of all steel structures, fences, gates, and buildings as indicated on the drawings and as specified below. 2G.2 CODES AND STANDARDS. American National Standards Institute (ANSI): (1) C2 - National Electrical Safety Code. 2G.3 CONTRACTOR -FURNISHED MATERIALS. Contractor shall furnish all required Cadweld, equipment, and materials as specified herein and as indicated on the drawings. 2GA ANTENNAS. Antennas shall be relocated or modified as directed by the Owner. Costs and expenses incurred by the Contractor in pursuit of such relocations and/or modifications shall be paid in accordance with Article GC.19. 2G.5 FENCES. All fences within the right-of-way, and parallel fences within 200 feet of the transmission line centerline, shall be grounded as specified and indicated on the drawings. Fences parallel to the centerline shall be grounded at the following intervals: Distance from Centerline 0 ft 25 ft 50 ft 75 ft 100 ft 125 ft 150 ft 175 ft 200 ft Grounding Interval 762 ft 779 ft 823 ft 878 ft 937 ft 997 ft 1,056 ft 1,115 ft 1,172 ft Fences crossing the centerline shall be grounded at each edge of the right -of way. If the angle of crossing is such that the distance between grounds exceeds 400 feet, additional grounds shall be installed so that the distance between grounds within the dghtr4way does not exceed 400 feet. Electric fences that cross the centerline at an angle of less than 45 degrees shall be grounded at one point on centerline by means of a 60-hertz fence filter. Electric fences that cross the centerline at an angle greater than 45 degrees shall not be grounded. Parallel electric fences shall be grounded at intervals directed by the Owner. The ground wire shall be interwoven with the fence wires except on electric fences. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 2G-1 TRANSMISSION CONSTRUCTION 2G.6 GATES. All gates within the right-of-way, and those in parallel fences within 200 feet of the transmission line centerline, shall be grounded as indicated on the drawings and per ANSI C2. 2G.7 BUILDINGS. All metal buildings, roofs, gutters, windmills, or other stationary objects, if any, within the right-of-way shall be grounded as indicated or, in special instances, in accordance with the Owner's directive. 2G.8 WORK OUTSIDE OF TRANSMISSION LINE RIGHT-OF-WAY The Contractor shall not install any grounds on fences, gates, buildings, windmill and other objects outside of the transmission line right-of-way without specific written instructions from the Owner. 2G.9 INSPECTION. The Contactor shall not backfill any trenches or excavations for grounding units before the Owner has verified that all Work has been completed and acceptable. 2G.10 RESISTANCE TESTS. Contractor, in the presence of the Owner, shall measure the resistance of all structure grounds by the 3-point fall of potential method with a minimum of three measurements being taken at different distances from the current probe. Maximum resistance shall be no greater than 15 ohms when all grounds have been installed and connected by temporary jumpers so that the grounds may be tested as a system. Additional ground rod extension units shall be installed when necessary at each foundation as indicated on the Contract Drawings until either a structure ground resistance not greater than 15 ohms is achieved or a total of four ground rod extension units have been installed. The ground resistance test shall be completed prior to connecting grounds to the structure. 2G.11 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT. Payment will be made at the Unit Prices in the Basis of Contract Award after Owner has received the test reports in accordance with 2G.10 and that sufficient ground rods have been installed and the Work is completed.
