ADDENDUM No. 1
SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
Description of Bid Package: Bid No. 5856, Vehicle Storage Buildings
BID OPENING DATE: 2:00 P.M. (our clock) June 4, 2004
Plan Holders List and Pre-bid Conference Attendance Lists attached.
To all prospective bidders under the specifications and contract documents described above, the
following are answers to questions raised at the Pre-bid Conference:
1. Question: How much over excavation will be required on the site?
Answer: The existing soil 48” below the buildings slabs and foundations must be removed
and replaced with the soil specified in the soils report. The existing soil below the concrete
slabs outside the buildings shall be excavated to a depth of 24” and acceptable soil shall be
reconditioned and properly compacted into place. If any additional soil is needed it is the
contractors responsibility to supply that soil.
2. Question: Is the soil below the storage bins acceptable to bear on?
Answer: The storage bins do not need any additional over excavation.
3. Question: What is the Contractor to do with the excavated soil?
Answer: It is the Contractors responsibility to dispose of any unused soil.
4. Question: How late can the last RFI question be asked?
Answer: The last date to ask RFI questions is seven days before the bid opening date.
5. Question: Who do the RFI’s go to?
Answer: All RFI questions are to be delivered, emailed or faxed to Ron Kechter.
6. Question: Will an amended bid form will be issued to cover the break outs?
Answer: Yes, Unit Prices addressed in SECTION 01022 have been incorporated into the new
bid form attached.
7. Question: Is the widening of Wood street part of the base bid?
Answer: Yes, it is part of the base bid.
8. Question: Is any landscaping going to be required by the Contractor at the new storm sewer
excavation locations?
Answer: No landscaping will be required at this location.
9. Question: What will the Owner remove from the site?
Answer: The Owner will remove all material from the site, except the storage building.
10. Question: Will the design team supply the LEED Matrix for the Contractor to review?
Answer: Yes, it is attached. The Contractor will be expected to implement an Indoor Air
Quality Management Plan for the construction and pre-occupancy phases per credit I-Q 3.1.
The Contractor is obligated to assist the Owner with completion of the credits outlined in
the LEED scorecard.
11. Question: Is the LEED required two week purge part of the contract time?
Answer: No, the Owner plans on testing the air instead of purging.
12. Question: Are there any additional products that the city is going to supply?
Answer: The city will supply the four required exterior site lights (AA).
RECEIPT OF THIS ADDENBUM MUST BE ACKNBOWLEDGED BY A WRITTEN STATEMENT
ENCLOSED WITH THE BID/QUOTE STATING THAT THIS ADDENDUM HAS BEEN RECEIVED
