ADDENDUM No. 3
SPECIFICATIONS AND CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
Description of Bid 5856 Vehicle Storage Buildings
OPENING DATE: 2:00 P.M. June 4, 2004
To all prospective bidders under the specifications and contract documents described above, the
following changes are hereby made.
GENERAL:
1. Clarification – fire alarm conduits between buildings A and buildings B and C shall be
minimum 1-1/4” or as required by code.
2. Clarification – there are no telephone conduits between building A and buildings B
and C.
3. Clarification – for storm drain lines A and B assume soil conditions are the same as
indicated in the soils report for the storage bins.
4. The unit prices are not associated individually with the Alternate 1 & 2 structures.
5. We are not requiring the Contactor to have LEED certified personnel on staff. No line
items will be included on the bid form connected to the LEED certification.
6. There are no contaminates in the soil on site – the city has already had the
contaminated soil removed and replaced.
7. If either alternate 1 or 2 is taken then the existing soil will be graded per the Civil
drawings – no gravel will be added by the General Contractor (see SD1-0).
8. Bid the Civil documents as if they are approved.
9. Per LEED Indoor Air Quality Credit 4 - All adhesives, sealants, paints, and composite
wood products shall meet or exceed the VOC limits.

10. Required stripping in Stockpile Bins – 3 stripes / 4” wide for the large bin area.
11. The City will obtain all required building permits, including the permit to widen Wood
Street.
12. The City will furnish “AA” light poles and lights only. The base detail on E6 will be the
same.
13. Below the buildings over-excavate 48” below bottom of slab and 48” below bottom of
footings.
14. The only ground preparation required below the 12” gravel surfaces is to excavate
the existing soil so that the top of the gravel surface and the top of the concrete slab
are at the same elevation.
15. Any questions about the widening of Wood Street should be answered on sheets
C11, C12, and the soils report.
16. The Contractor may substitute “Spiral Duct” for “Square Duct”. It will be the
contractor’s responsibility to submit sizes and calculations to the Mechanical
Engineer for approval.
17. Please disregard any references to unused specification sections identified in “1.01
Work included” which have not been included in this specification book.
SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Section 01010 – Eliminate the requirement that all wood products are to be Green
Certified.
2. Section 01022 – The only required Unit Prices are defined in this section.
3. Section 01030 – Section not used.
4. Section 01060 – The Davis Bacon Wages are not a requirement of this project.
5. Section 02221 1.02 / A – It is the responsibility of the Contractor to extend the Water
and Sewer lines to the new buildings from the street.
6. Section 02515 – The 6” exterior concrete paving shall be a Class “P” type paving
(CDOT Standards). The reinforcing in the 6” exterior paving (2.02 / 2) shall consist of
#5 rebar @ 18” O.C. each way.
7. Section 02515 – The exterior sidewalks, curbs and gutters shall be a Class “B” type
paving (CDOT Standards).

8. Section 02831 – There is no play area and no vinyl – coated fencing to be installed.
9. Section 02831 – Cantilever gates shall be steel square tube framework on a track
system with either steel or nylon rollers.
10. Section 02832 – The 6’-0” screen fence is to be constructed with Cedar posts and
composite rails and pickets – color to be approved by architect.
11. Section 05120 – This project is restricted to fabricators with AISC Quality
Certification Program “Complex Steel Building Structures” only.
12. Section 05120 2.04/E – Only exposed steel that is part of the building is required to
be galvanized. This does not include pipe bollards or the card reader pole.
13. Section 06120 – 1.01 / B - Eliminate any reference to polystyrene all S.I.P. panels are
to have polyurethane insulation.
14. Section 08331 – Overhead Sectional doors do not need to be 3” thick doors but they
do need to meet the R-value requirements.
15. Section 08331 – Overhead Sectional doors are standard lift doors and shall use
Trolley Operators not the specified Jack Shaft operators.
16. Section 08800 – 2.01 / B - The Frosted high diffusing glass shall be glass with
“Pattern 62”.
17. Section 16442 - Delete paragraph B in part 2.2; Clarification – Paragraph L, Number
2, in part 2.2, “door within hinged trim cover” shall be standard for all panelboards;
Clarification – Paragraph L, number 1 and number 3, in part 2.2, isolated ground bus
and skirt for surface mounted panelboards are not required on project.
DRAWINGS:
1. Sheet C7 there is a darkened line that connects buildings A and B - it is a 1” copper
water service line.
2. Sheet L1.3 – Provide mow strips as shown the full length of the chain link and
wood/composite fences.
3. Sheet SD1.0 - Provide Control Joints in the exterior concrete slabs as specified 15’
x15’ spacing.
4. Sheet SD1.0 – The Contractor is to provide Detection Loops on the inside and
outside to both gates. Contractor is to coordinate this with the Owner’s card reader
installer.

5. Sheet SD1.0 – Card Readers are to be installed at entrance posts only – not on the
fence.
6. Sheet SD1.0 – Valley pans are to be installed as shown on civil drawings with the
required expansion joints at their edges.
7. Sheet SD1.0 / C6 – The designated existing light poles and electrical will be removed
by contractor.
8. Provide Control Joints in the building concrete slabs as shown on sheet A1.5.
9. Details 3/A3.1 and 4/A3.1 - Eliminate the indicated insulation layer under the slabs of
buildings B and C.
10. Details 1&2 / A4.1 - Eliminate the rubber base in the bathrooms.
11. Electrical – Electrical work shall start at the Transformer (which will be set by the City
- see SD1.0)
12. Electrical – There is a telephone riser in building “A” only.
13. Sheet E2 – Panel VSA-1, Circuits 25, 27, 29, and 33 refer to Cord Reel not Card
Reader.
14. E2 – exit signs with X1 designation shall be the same as type X except double sided
RECEIPT OF THIS ADDENBUM MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY A WRITTEN STATEMENT

RECEIVED.
