Please replace the previous specifications with the following specifications. Please use the attached Addendum #2 Bid Schedule when submitting your bid. If you have any questions please contact John Stephen, CPPO, Senior Buyer, at 970-221-6777. PART 1 — GENERAL 1.1. SUMMARY A. This document defines product specifications for the purchase of 100,000 feet of singlemode fiber optic cable by the City of Fort Collins. 1.2. WARRANTY A. Cable product shall be warranted by the manufacture to cover any manufacturers defect discovered and documented by the City of Fort Collins for a period of no less the 60 days after receipt of product. 2. PART 2 — PRODUCTS A. SHIPPING HANDLING AND DELIVERY REQUIRMENTS Packing Documentation shall be delivered with each reel in original packages as follows: ■ Customer Order Number ■ Cable Construction ■ Manufacturer's Cable Code ■ Type of Cable ■ Number of Fibers in the Cable ■ Ship Date • Length of Cable in Feet • Manufacturer's Name • Weight of Cable and Reel ■ Beginning and Ending Length Markings • Factory Reel Number 215 North Mason Street • 2nd Floor • P.O. Packing Documentation shall be delivered with each reel in original packages as follows: ■ Customer Order Number ■ Cable Construction ■ Manufacturer's Cable Code ■ Type of Cable ■ Number of Fibers in the Cable ■ Ship Date ■ Length of Cable in Feet ■ Manufacturer's Name ■ Weight of Cable and Reel ■ Beginning and Ending Length Markings ■ Factory Reel Number 2. Each Reel shall be labeled with the following information on at least one of the flanges: • Country of origin ■ An arrow indicating proper direction of roll when handling ■ Ship to address • Ship to "attention of notice (when available) ■ Manufacturer's cable number • Cable length in feet ■ Gross package weight inclusive of cable, reel and protective covering ■ Customer purchase order (when available) • Fork lift operators handling illustration ■ Label indicating "DO NOT SHIP REEL ON SIDE" 3. The ends of all cables shall be sealed to prevent escape of the filling compound and to prevent the entry of moisture during shipping, handling, storage, and installation. 4. Cable shall be protected from the weather, humidity, temperature variations, dirt, dust, or other contaminants and include a thermal protective wrap shall be securely applied over the outer turns of the cable on each reel. The wrap shall be weather resistant and limit solar heating of the cable such that cable surface temperatures do not exceed 10 degrees C above ambient temperature under solar radiation loading of 1000 watts per square meter in still air. The wrap shall be labeled "Do Not Remove Wrap Until Cable Is Placed." This wrap may be omitted when lags or other mechanical reel protection devices are provided. 5. A copy of the manufacturer's pre -shipping OTDR test data for each strand on each reel shall be included as documentation shipped underneath the thermal wrap or lagging. Test data shall indicate reel number, strand ID (number and color), measured strand distance, wavelength tested, dB/Km loss measured, and manufacturers test personnel name/ signature certifying product meets purchase specifications. 6. A copy of each reel test documentation record shall also be included in a weatherproof envelope showing the above information and also including date of manufacture, cable characteristics, and other information. 2 7. Reels and or/ cable damaged prior to acceptance at City of Ft. Collins deliver site shall be returned and replaced at no cost to the City. 3.2. FIBER OPTIC CABLE REQUIREMENTS A. Cable Configurations: Cable shall be 48-strand singlemode, fiber optic cable. All Cable provided under this contract shall be from the same manufacturer utilizing identical specifications and configured as follows: Fiber Optic Cable shall be designed for use in underground outside plant environment. Cable shall be fabricated by a certified ISO 9001 manufacturer and meet or exceed the following requirements and Standards: a) The diameter of the fiber optic cable is not to exceed 12mm. The physical weight of the cable shall not exceed 133 kg/km. b ) Dielectric construction using center strength member configuration. c) Dry tape water blocked for interstitial space between buffer tubes and cable jacket. d) Cable shall support optical fiber strands separated into four (4), water block gel filled buffer tubes. Each buffer tube shall be color - coded following the TIA 598 standard (Blue, Orange, Green and Brown), Each buffer tube shall contain twelve (12) color coded fiber strands compliant with Telcordia GR0020 and the requirements of EIA/TIA-598-A Standard. e) The cable shall have footage markings every two feet on the outer cable jacket and be marked "City of Fort Collins Traffic" every five feet. f) The fiber optic cable shall be design to withstand a pulling tension of 2700 N without changing characteristics of the optical fibers. The minimum yield strength of the cable shall be 19.30 MPa (2800 psi) for unaged cable and 14.50 MPa (2100 psi) for aged cable. g) The cable shall be designed to function between -400C to +70°C throughout the life expectancy of the cable. B. Fiber Strand Requirements: The cable shall include 48 strands of singlemode optic fiber suitable for support of Course Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) transmission meeting or exceeding the following specifications: Fiber must comply with EIA/TIA 455 and IEC 793 test methods for required attributes. 2. Fiber shall be of a matched cladding design meeting both ITU G652 and G652.0 specifications, along with the Telcordia GR-00020-core specification.. s 3. Fiber strands shall have D-LUX®, CPC or approved equivalent coating on each strand to ensure color retention, minimize microbending losses and improve handling. The coating shall be mechanically strippable. 4. Cable product shall be delivered on reels meeting the following requirements: The Vendor shall provide fiber optic cable on the fewest number of reels for the footage planned purchase of 100,000 feet 2. Reels size shall not exceed 96"flange diameter. 3. Reels shall be constructed of wood and be suitable for use in outside plant construction. 4. Reels shall be non -returnable type. 5. A minimum length of 6 ft. on each end of the cable shall be accessible for testing and verifying beginning and ending footage numbers.
