Thank you for your support and encouragement over the past, exciting five years. I have thoroughly enjoyed developing and directing a tennis program for the citizens of Fort Collins that they can be proud of. Over the years we have introduced tennis to hundreds of children and adults and then provided them with programs to help keep them involved in the game. It's been great seeing families participating together in our Parent/Child events and seeing youngsters that started tennis in our program progress to playing on their high school teams. As I look to the next five years, my motivation and excitement for my position is burning as strong as ever. I see the program extending its reach to more players every year. A large base of new players is in place and we want to provide opportunities for those players to reach their potential through tournaments and advanced player programs. We also want to create interest in the community for increased programming in the spring and fall. We want to continue to develop a program that people will view as one of the benefits of living in Fort Collins. Sincerely, L Lewis /Q, Ja,5VT /.EaJIS %EroNis I C . PROPOSAL FOR OPERATING ROLLAND MOORE TENNIS PRO SHOP CONCESSION #P896 Submitted by Lewis Tennis Inc. COMPANY EXPERIENCE Lewis Tennis Inc. Larry Lewis has worked in the field of tennis for 35 years. Lewis Tennis Inc. has been incorporated since 1994. During those years Lewis has directed programs for some of the top tennis facilities in the U.S. including: • John Gardiner's Tennis Ranch (Scottsdale, AZ and Incline Village, NV) • Vail Racquet Club (Vail, CO) • Cascade Club (Vail, CO) • Wickenburg Inn (Wickenburg, AZ) • Cambier Park (Naples, FL) • Pelican Bay Community Park (Naples, FL) 1) All of the positions involved extensive programming and directing all tennis activities. 2) All positions except John Gardiner's involved working with pro shop merchandising and sales. • Lewis has directed programs for a total of 19 years at public facilities Lewis has also achieved these accomplishments during his career: • Directed workshops for the top tennis coaches, Davis Cup team, and top junior players in China in 1986. • Directed three public facilities that have received the coveted award by the United States Tennis Association as being top national public tennis centers. Cambier Park, Pelican Bay Community Park, and Rolland Moore Racquet Center. • Received volunteer of the year award for South Florida District. • Ranked in the top twenty singles and doubles in the U.S. by the USPTA. • Played #1 at Colorado State University • Directed 3 clinics with Rod Laver (selected as the top player in the world for the last century.) • Directed clinics with Stan Smith and Gene Mayer. COMPANY PHILOSOPHY The mission statement and goals for the program that I submitted five years ago has not changed. We have held true to our mission statement and have accomplished our goals. The mission and goals will be the same for the next five years with the added focus of increasing the vibrancy of the program by creating more activity in the off season months, development of regionally and nationally ranked players, and the further development of programs to serve "at risk" youth and people who are physically and mentally challenged. An atmosphere of friendliness and service will continue to be a priority at the pro shop. Whenever there is dissatisfaction with product or services, an offer of a refund is always made. To have all our customers satisfied is a major goal. Mission Statement: "To grow the game of tennis in Fort Collins by making Rolland Moore Park Tennis the center of tennis activity in Fort Collins. To provide quality programs at all of Fort Collins City tennis courts. " Making Rolland Moore the center of tennis in Fort Collins means that it would become the clearinghouse for activities at all the city's tennis courts. Instructors would be trained at Rolland Moore and then sent to the city's satellite courts to teach and run programs for children and adults. Round robins, tournaments, game arrangement, group and private lessons, camps for children and adults, special events such as mental and physical conditioning clinics would all be held at the facility. Junior tennis will be a major part of the operation. My philosophy on junior tennis is that it is important to remember that the most important thing a child can develop from a tennis lesson or activity has more to do with life skills than it has to do with tennis skills. Life skills such as sportsmanship, concentration, dealing with winning and losing, goal setting, and discipline. These are skills that will be taught right along with how to hit a topspin forehand. The lessons are taught with lots of positive feedback and encouragement. COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE Larry Lewis City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation, Marc Rademacher Fort Collins Tennis Association, Dave Hill Collier County, Florida, Murdo Smith PROPOSED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Please see attached Programming Information. The maintenance program would not include court repairs such as cracks or resurfacing or painting buildings or sheds. Because of our day to day involvement on and around the courts, we can provide a more timely and effective maintenance routine that will free up other Parks and Recreation staff for other duties and present a savings for the City in the way of maintenance personnel salaries. Our goal would be to have the city courts be in top notch condition at all times for the players. We would approach the maintenance with the same focus on quality and consistency that we have demonstrated in all our programs. The maintenance program would be done in lieu of payments to the City. The maintenance program would consist of: Preseason and postseason court preparation for Rolland Moore, Edora, Warren, City Park, Fossil Creek. This would include putting up and taking down windscreens, cleaning courts, and net replacement if needed. During the summer months (June, July, August), the following items would be attended to 5 days a week at Rolland Moore & Fossil Creek.
