Dave McCleave feels like
he's coming home.
McCleave has been hired
as the golf professional/con-
cessionaire at City Park Mine
Golf Course, a move that
brings him back to a course
he grew up playing on and
worked as a teen -ages.
"It's like a dream come
true," McCleave said
Wednesday aftemoon.

Goff, who announced last
month he was retiring after
nearly three years on the job.
Doffs contract was set to run
through 2004.
McCleave will receive a
five-year contract, based on
annual renewals, with an op-
portunity for an additional
five years.
"We're pretty thrilled with
hiring him," city golf manag-
er Jerry P. Brown said. "We
feel it's a great fit for City
Park Nine."
McCleave, 34, was chosen
from among four finalists by
a five -person search commit-
tee. The committee inter-
viewed finalists Friday be-
fore deciding on McCleave,
currently an assistant pro at
Boomerang Golf Links in
Greeley.
" I think we had four good
folks," said Jim O Neill, the
city's director of purchasing
and risk management and
head of the five -person
search committee. "Dave
came out on top, and all the
committee was happy with
that"
The other finalists — cho-
sen from a list of 10 appli-
cants — were Ryan DeHaan,
an assistant at Fort Collins
CC; Harold Garrison, a for-
mer City Park Nine assistant
and Mountain Vista Greens
pro; and Ben Hay, general
manager of Applewood GC
in Golden.
McCleave came to Fort
Collins as a youngster and
played golf with his gran a-
ther at City Park Mine. He
later served as a pro shop
employee for CPN pro Jim
Greer, now at Collindale.
McCleave graduated from
Poudre High School and got
a golf scholarship to
Wyoming. He played four
seasons for the Cowboys
and after graduating in 1992,
spent the next year trying to
make a living on golfs mini -
tours.
