Mr. Brown and Golf Board:
If the head golf professional position becomes available at the SouthRidge course, I hope
you will consider Dan Bruntz for it.
I have lived at SouthRidge for over five years and have been impressed with Dan's
business acumen and customer service.
He has been at SouthRidge for years and knows the community, which I think is
important. I also believe he is a dependable person with a solid reputation in the community.
Many of my SouthRidge neighbors who play golf have said they would like to see Dan get
the head pro position.
Sincerely,

Dear Jerry,
I have been the accountant for Sandtrap Inc dba Mackenzie's Pub and Grill for over nine
years. I have worked with three different managers at the concession in those nine years.
I am writing this letter to recommend Dan Bruntz for future contracts with the city.
Of all the managers I have worked with I have found Dan to be the most responsible,
dedicated and professional employee. He has worked hard to improve operations at the
concession and has increased gross sales by 75 % in the past 5 years. His honesty and
integrity are genuine and he sincerely cares about the caliber of the work that he and his
staff provide. I can recommend him without hesitation for any position. If I can provide
any further information please do not hesitate to call.

It is my understanding that due to recent changes in the management structure
at Southridge Golf Course there may be a need for a new head golf professional
and, in addition, that there may be a new search for someone to run the local
bar. It has been my great honor and pleasure to know Dan Bruntz for many
years and i heartily recommend Mr. Bruntz for both positions.
Mr. Bruntz treats customers with honor and makes them feel as if they are the
single most important element of the transaction. I have taken notice of this over
my many years as a regular both at Southridge Golf Course as well as at
Mackenzies Bar and Grill. Many times I have gone out of my way to stop by the
course to practice my swing or enjoy a cocktail and meal at the course. Mr.
Bruntz always makes it a point to greet any and all customers personally and to
make them feel comfortable and otherwise at home. I have observed Mr. Bruntz
in this capacity both at Mackenzies as well as working behind the counter at the
golf pro shop. There is no change in his demeanor between the pro shop and
the restaurant; he acts as the same person and treats all customers with the
same courtesy.
Mr. Bruntz takes great pains to hire staff who share his philosophies regarding
customer service. Mackenzies is an establishment in which I have always, as a
direct result of Mr. Bruntz's management and tutelage, felt welcome and I have
every faith and confidence that this would extend to his management of the pro
shop. It has become rather obvious to me, over the years I have spent time at
Southridge/Mackenzies, that Mr. Bruntz is driven to succeed and that this drive
extends to the manner in which he treats the client/customer. In addition to
enjoying my time at Mackenzies, and in my interactions with Mr. Bruntz when he
has been involved with operation of the pro shop, I have had the pleasure of
having taken golf lessons from Mr. Bruntz this season; I am not the most patient
FCGOLF01 1 10127r2000
of clients when it comes to such instruction. Mr. Bruntz has patiently, and with
appropriate interjections of humor, led my golf game to a much higher level with
hints and tips regarding what I must do in order to better my game. It is my
strongest hope and desire that I will be able to continue my instructions with Mr.
Bruntz in the coming season. I have observed Mr. Bruntz giving instructions to
others and have heard similar comments from them when the lessons are
completed.
Mr. Bruntz truly desires to make Southridge Golf Course a place where there is
pride taken by employees; this pride and enjoyment of the work environment
translates into hard working congenial employees who care deeply about the
experience occasioned by all who partake of the facilities. His customer first
attitude coupled with his desire to make employees feel wanted, deserved,
trusted and respected, make Mackenzies a truly magnificent place to spend
leisure time. It is my strong belief that Mr. Bruntz's approach to the formal hands
on management of the Southridge Pro Shop will only enhance the experience
felt by customers and it is my fervent hope and desire that he will be awarded
the contract for the management and operation of the Southridge Pro Shop as
well as the extension of his contract to operate Mackenzies Bar and Grill. These
locations would be only a distant remnant of their current status were Mr. Bruntz
to no longer be involved.
Thank you for the time taken to review this letter. If you have any additional
questions concerning the contents hereof or of my thoughts regarding Mr. Bruntz
and his desire to operate both Mackenzies and the Southridge Pro Shop please
do not hesitate et me know.

Golf Pro Selection Committee,
I am wri,&ing this letter to express my opinion on the selection of the new Golf Pro
for Southridge Golf Course. It is very sad that we as a city have had to go
through this current situation. I would like to thank everyone involved for
understanding the seriousness of these events and for the action that has been
taken to find a new head pro. I believe that because of these tragic circumstances
our city is forced to seriously evaluate the potential candidates for this position.
I know that it comes as no surprise to you that the position of Head Pro is one that
carries with it a lot of responsibility. This responsibility is not only relating to the
business side of running a golf course but also to the influence that this position
carries in our community. As with any coach or teacher in our city there will be
many who will look -up to this professional with a great deal of respect. It is
essential that our city choose someone who is respectable as our Head Pro. When
you are in a position of influence and leadership it is important to be a person with
integrity. This is a huge concern as one who works with students on a daily basis.
Our desire should be that the individual who accepts this position would
understand the importance of being a role model for our community.
I am aware that I don't know all of the individuals that have or will submit
contracts to fill this position. However, I do know Dan Bruntz and believe that we
would be hard pressed to find another candidate that would do as good a job as he
would. His track record is a good one. He has done a great job as an assistant and
is a great teaching pro that has helped my game a lot. I believe that two of ban's
greatest assets are his people skills and the great relationships that he has
already developed with many of the golfers in our community. From the business
side of things, he has done very well in providing our city with a quality, well run
restaurant at Mackenzie's. Most importantly, I know Dan well enough to feel more
than comfortable with the influence that he would have on all of the young golfers,
including my own children, in our community.
I am sure that there is a great deal of information that is being processed as you
seek to find the "right person for the job". I am trusting that the right decision
will be made so that our city will once again be extremely proud of the individuals
that have been given our trust and the responsibility of being a role model for us
all. Thank you for your time and for considering my perspective on this pivotal
decision
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Brown:
I am a golfer who plays the South Ridge golf course an average of 2-3 times a week. I've
belonged to the Men's League and, after I retired a few years ago, started working part
time at the golf course. I highly recommend Mr. Dan Bruntz for the position of Head
PGA Golf Professional at the South Ridge Golf Club.
Dan has worked at the golf club for nine years. In that nine years he has earned the
respect and admiration of the personnel who work there as well as the public who utilize
the club. Dan has a great personality and the ability to deal with all kinds of people as
shown by the way he interacts with the public, golf students, and other professionals and
employees.
Dan has proven his management ability by the success and the number of golf
tournaments he's organized at the golf club as well as the success of McKenzies
restaurant and bar. He earned the confidence of all his customers, making it a popular
place for socializing or for McKenzies-catered events.
Dan's enthusiastic hard work will be a great improvement to the South Ridge Golf Club
as the Head PGA Golf Professional.

I am writing this letter to give my support and to strongly urge your consideration in selecting
Dan Bruntz as the new Golf Pro for the Southridge Golf Course. As a resident of Southridge and
a member of the Mens Club for the past 8 years, I have had considerable contact with Mr. Bruntz
and have always been treated in a very friendly and professional manner. I feel Southridge is one
of the better courses in our area and whenever I played golf there it was a pleasant and positive
experience. I feel Dan would carry through the same courteous and professional attitude.
Again, I would like to highly recommend Dan and my consideration given him would be greatly
appreciated.

Reason: Recommendation for Dan Bruntz
I understand Dan is applying for the head -pro job at South Ridge and rightfully he should. He has
been assistant now for years and has a great deal of experience for the job. I have known Dan for
many years at South Ridge as a golfer and golf coach and all experiences have been very positive.
He has gladly and friendly handled Poudre High School tournament bookings, daily fall and spring
practice accommodations for our teams, and has set up over 10 year-end awards dinners for the
golf team and families all of which have been exceptional in quality and service. Dan is known as
a quality Golf Professional who has a very highly regarded personal character by all who know
and work with him.
He is a very fine candidate who knows everything about running South Ridge successfully with a
professional business manner, a hard work ethic, and a pleasant demeanor. He is very well liked
by the golf community. He has been successful managing the restaurant, the daily tee -time
reservations, tournaments, and teaching quality golf lessons and I am sure is highly regarded by
the grounds crew and management.
I highly recommend Dan Bruntz for the South Ridge change over of head professional and have
all the confidence that he would manage the establishment for continued financial success for the
city golf fund. Feel free to communicate with me personally for further character reference.

Golf Pro Selection
Dear Jerry Brown,
I am writing this letter to highly recommend Dan Bruntz for the Head Professional
position at Southridge Golf Clnh. I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Dan from
1992-1995 and would like to share my experience with you.
Dan was the First Professional and clearly the best person for the job. He was an integral
part of the daily operations from scheduling, purchasing and bookkeeping to setting up
the handicap system, advertising, tournament operations and teaching. Dan was always
the first person we sought with a question or concern because we knew it would be taken
care of logically, promptly and fairly. He was normally the first person at work and often
the last one to leave. His wide range of skills and experience in the golf business
awarded him the ability to fill in for any number of positions that may have been
neglected by another staff member on a given day.
The First Professional job duties often flowed into the Head Professional duties and have
continued to do so in recent years. Dan possesses the unique ability to wear many hats
and maintain a heavy workload at Southridge, which could seem cumbersome for another
employee, but not for Dan. He has the capability and knowledge to facilitate all areas of
the golf operations while continually maintaining his professionalism and amiable
character. His leadership qualities enable him to organize, delegate, and execute any
given task in a timely, fair and professional manner.
In 17 years of working in the golf profession. Dan is one of the most upstanding, honest,
hard working, fair and trustworthy professionals I have met. Dan helped bring in and
continues to maintain a steady stream of repeat players due to maintaining a friendly and
respectable environment amongst the staff. It was truly a pleasure for me to work for and
with Dan and I know the present staff at Southridge continues to feel the same way.
It is my recommendation that due to his many years of experience and outstanding job
performance at Southridge Golf Club, Dan be given great consideration for the position
of Head Professional. Thank you very much for your time.

Mr. Jerry Brown,
I'm writing this letter in my support of Dan Bruntz as your choice for the new Head
professional at Southridge Golf Course.
I'm the President ofMackenzies Golf League, a league that was formed five years ago as
an overflow league to the Wednesday Night Men's League. Dan has been instrumental in
helping me to organize and support this league. His leadership was great for me since I was
clueless with respect to operating a golf league. Now, the league seems to keep expanding with
new members that Dan has sent to me as well as friends of existing members.
I have also worked for Dan in the restaurant and have dealt extensively with him and his
great organizational skills with tournaments. His attentions to detail and making sure the client
is always pleased with the tournament is never ending.
I think Dan would be great as the Head Professional at Southridge due to his dedication
to the clients. His energy level at helping clients enjoy the game of golf is exemplary.
Once again I think Dan would be the best choice for the head pro position.
Thank You ,

Dear Mr. Brown and Members of the Board:
The situation at South Ridge golf course surrounding head pro Derek Cordova is most
unfortunate, for South Ridge, and the city. Since who occupies this position in the future
seems to be uncertain, we would like to offer this unsolicited letter in support of Dan
Bruntz as the next head pro at South Ridge. We have known Dan for several years,
frequent South Ridge, and live adjacent to the course. We have a strong interest in seeing
South Ridge continue to be a fun place to play and enjoy golf. We firmly believe Dan
has all the necessary skills to be a very successful successor to Derek. We sense that the
following skills should be possessed by a head pro:
*Obviously a head pro should be dedicated to the great game of golf, and support and
encourage players of all levels. Members of our household and many friends have taken
lessons from Dan, and he is most supportive. He is especially dedicated to getting young
people into the game. He has personally spent time with our son (a varsity golfer here in
Ft. Collins) on both the range and course. Dan willingly provided support and
encouragement to our son, which has played a large role in his success as a golfer. We
are confident that Dan would run an outstanding teaching program for golfers of all
levels, and instill in them respect and appreciation for the game.
•A head pro must have a good sense of the business end of the pro shop. Obviously Dan
is a businessman, demonstrated by his successful venture at Mackenzie's. Dan has
excellent human resource skills that would translate into him managing an effective staff,
as well as relating very well to clients.
•A head pro must be skilled at organizing tournaments and other activities at the course.
Again we see Dan having excellent qualifications here. He conducts annual Mackenzie's
tournaments and there is no doubt that he would establish a healthy mix of tournament
and open play at the course. He would manage tournaments extremely well.
•A head pro must work effectively with the green's superintendent. Dan has a good
working relationship with Randy Boneville and his staff. Dan really takes pride in South
Ridge, and under his leadership, Nve are confident that South Ridge would deliver a good
product to its clientele.

Dear Committee Member(s):
It has been brought to my attention that you are in the process of selecting a
new Golf Pro for Southridge Golf Course. I would like to offer my opinion on,
the Assistant Pro at Southridge, Mr. Dan Bruntz.
While I currently live in Windsor, I resided at Southridge for over six years. I also
have been in the men's league at Southridge for over ten years and I have
served as an officer of this league for over seven years.
During this time I have seen many changes at the course. One of the best
changes I have seen occur over the years is when Mr. Bruntz became a part of
the Staff at Southridge approximately seven years ago.
Dan, has had a very positive influence not only on myself but also, I feel, on
everyone he come into contact with at the course. He truly wants Southridge
to be the best course it can be. He has made many personal sacrifices over his
tenure along with making several financial commitments to Southridge. Also, I
have come to know Dan as a person. And, I am proud to have Dan as a friend. I
have found hirn to be of good character, honest, with a willingness to help
others, and he maintains a high level of integrity. I also believe that Dan has a
good "business sense" and can lead Southridge in becoming one of the most
outstanding golf courses in Colorado.
I think you would do Southridge Golf Course an injustice if you do not select
Mr. Bruntz as the new Golf Pro. He is the best person for the position, and he
will do right by all of us.
Sincerely;

To: Jerry Brown and Golf Selection Committee
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. My purpose in writing you today is to
give my support for Dan Bruntz as your next Head Professional at Southridge Golf Club.
I fully understand the decision in front of you is not easy. You may have numerous
qualified people to consider for the job, but none will be as qualified as Mr. Bruntz. Let
me explain.
Historically, Dan has run an outstanding establishment with Mackenzies Resturaunt. Dan
has a very strong work ethic, sixty plus hours per week is not unusuaL He oversees the
hiring, training, and scheduling of 25 employees a year. Additionally Dan schedules and
runs over 107 tournaments a year, personally overseeing every facet whether its
coordinating pro shop with food and beverage to creating tournament score cards and
posting sheets. The reason is Dan cares, he wants things done right and that's not all. Last
season Dan setup the inventory pricing for the entire pro shop, scheduled the junior
programs which are the most active within the city, taught personal lessons and
coordinated virtually all activities associated with the 25 leagues that play each week
during the spring and summer. What this means is he has well-rounded experience in the
golf business. He's an excellent teacher but doesn't spend all of his time just teaching and
likewise an excellent player who doesn't spend all of his time playing.
As a personal friend I know Dan Bruntz. He's a devoted husband and father with high
moral standards and coupled with his experience in the golf and restaurant business
would be your best choice as head pro for Southridge Golf Club.

Dear Members of the Golf Board
I understand that Dan Bruntz has applied for the recently announced vacancy for golf
professional at Southridge Golf Club. I would strongly endorse his candidacy for this position.
As a previous member of the Golf Board, I know you will receive a number of excellent
candidates. However, I believe there are several factors which weigh heavily in Dan's favor.
His loyalty to Southridge Golf Club for many years cannot be overlooked. He would bring
stability and continuity not only to the on -going operations of Southridge, but also to the many
activities and tournaments hosted there. His ownership of Mackenzie's Restaurant further
enhances his ability to provide the golfing public with coordinated league, tournament and
charitable activities.
As a member of the Southridge Men's Club for the past eight years, I have had the opportunity
to observe Dan interact with many people in numerous and diverse situations. He has always been
extremely courteous and helpful not only to us, but even more to the golfing public in general.
He would be an excellent representative for the City of Fort Collins at Southridge.
As a resident of the Southridge Greens subdivision, and as an active golfer in Fort Collins, I
have no reservations in recommending the hiring of Dan Bruntz as the golf professional at
Southridge Golf Club.

I am writing to enthusiastically support Kim Moyer as first assistant pro at your
course should this position come open. Kim's help and subtle teaching
techniques have greatly improved my own game.
As a Legislator and State Education Administrator, I am often invited to charity
and celebrity golf tournaments. I was planning to forego these events due to lack
of my own consistency and poor scores. Kim's instruction and encouragement
have given both technique and mental imaging support that I have not previously
received in other lessons I've taken over the past 15 years.
This letter is to acknowledge her outstanding performance as a professional
educator and potential for further promoting your venue. Her teaching ability,
warm personality, and encouragement are very important strengths she would
add to the position. She has oral and verbal communication skills unsurpassed
by others.
If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
Sincerely,
aot

Dear Mr. Brown,
11/22/00
I am writing to you today to recommend Mr. Dan Bruntz and Mrs. Kim Moyer for the
positions of Golf Pro at Southridge Golf course. My son has participated in the Junior Golf classes
at Southridge for two summers now and has been taught by Mr. Bruntz. I have only high remarks
for Mr. Bruntz as a golfer and a person who has taught my child a life long skill. He is very capable
and professional.
I have known Kim Moyer for over ten years and can not speak enough about the qualities
that make her perfect for this position. She has a true love of the sport and is extremely
professional. Her past professional experience in public relations/marketing can only add to the
quality of the golf programs at Southridge Golf Course.
I look forward to seeing Dan and Kim announced as the new Golf Pro team at Southridge!
Sincerely I
I

To the Fort Collins Golf Board Selection Committee,
This letter is in regards to the appointment of the new head professional at
SouthRidge Golf Club. In my opinion the best and most logical choice is Dan Bruntz. He
has been associated with the golf course and the daily business for many years and I
believe he has a very good `feel' for how to manage the course and it's employees. He
has a very good personality and is able to communicate and interact with the golfers
who play there.
Dan was the golf professional who I went to for lessons and I still refer to those les-
sons to this day. He has a way of spotting a problem and then is able to give you sound
instruction in a way that you can understand and incorporate it into your game.
I moved away from Fort Collins a couple of years ago but I still remain in contact with
Dan and have continued to do business with him. He has always treated me profession-
ally and fairly; I know he would do the same in the day-to-day business at SouthRidge.
I feel Dan Bruntz is a good man and the one for the head professional position.
Sincerely,
v

We offer our strong support for Dan Bruntz as the next head pro at South Ridge. One
additional comment can be made. Dan is a strong family man and therefore presents a
very positive image, especially to the young players at South Ridge. We are very
comfortable with him being around our youth. We are sure you recognize how important
this is.
Dan is not only an outstanding candidate for this position, but a logical one as well. He
knows the course, the area, clientele, is savvy from a business perspective, and would
bring a great deal of dedication to this position. We urge you to make Dan Bruntz the
next head pro at South Ridge golf course.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Brown,
As the newly elected Treasurer of the Southridge Men's League and a 12+ year player of
the course, I would like to give my recommendation of Dan Bruntz for the next Head Golf
Professional for Southridge Golf Course.
For the past seven years I have held an informal tournament at Southridge. During those
years Mr. Bruntz has been tremendously helpful with helping to organize and promote my
event. Year after year I hear nothing but praise about how well Mr. Bruntz and his staff
have treated my tournament guests. I feel that this level of management and customer
service would not only continue, but could very possibly improve the complete golfing
experience at Southridge.
In the year 2000, three friends and myself signed up for a series of golf lessons Mr.
Bruntz. Our group brought the challenge of four very different levels of ability, ranging
from a near novice to a player that has played for 25 years. Mr. Bruntz had a terrifically
well thought out plan for each lesson. Rather than having all four players working a single
drill that may have not been suited for their own ability level, Mr. Bruntz had a definite
"cause/effect" drill for each individual player. At the conclusion of each session, each
player walked away with a positive feeling that they were given something that was unique
to their own game.
Sincerely
Norm Sandersen

Dear Mr. Brown and Board:
After retiring to Estes Park 15 years ago, I worked in the Pro Shop at Estes Park
Golf Course.
Last January we moved to Ft. Collins and I started to work part time in the Pro Shop at
Southridge. In the time I've been there I have recognized the professional work being done by
Dan Bruntz in both the pro shop and restaurant and it's obvious he is well liked by both the
Public and employees.
Based on the above I feel he is well qualified for the position of Head Professional at Southridge.
Sincerely,
Edward Carlson

Subj: Selection Southridge golf professional - 2001
Mr. Brown:
We would like to take this opportunity of respectfully suggesting the appointment of Mr.
Dan Bruntz to the position of head golf professional at Southridge Golf Course beginning
January 1, 2001.
All of us having lived in Ft. Collins in excess of 20 years and all being avid devotees of the
game of golf, we have utilized all the municipal golf courses in Fort Collins. For the past
approximately seven years, we have called Southridge our home course.
During this time, we feel that Mr. Bruntz, in addition to his obvious good working
relationship with the people and extensive history of the course during his 9 years in
association with Southridge, is the type of mature, knowledgeable and hardworking
individual whose abilities and loyalty to our course should be retained for years to come.
Thank you for your time and attention.
