HomeMy WebLinkAboutCORRESPONDENCE - RFP - P777 GOLF PROFESSIONAL SOUTHRIDGE (5)To the Southridge selection committee:
This letter is a positive vote for the selection of Dan Bruntz as the new head
professional at Southridge golf course.
I have been an integral part of the Ft. Collins golfing community since 1974. Through
the growth of our town and our golf courses there has been very little change in the head
pro positions here. The head pro's love their work, their community, and the people they
serve at the three golf facilities.
Danhas been the behind the scenes leader at Southridge for several years now. He
manages a fine restaurant operation, caters private parties, gives excellent golf lessons,
and is a positive working golf professional in all aspects of the business. Dan is a
complete team player, with an in depth understanding of the inner workings of
Southridge. Dan works as well with the public as any golf professional I have come in
contact with.
Dan has been the captain of this ship, for many years, he certainly deserves the
opportunity to have the offical title as Head Golf Professional at Southridge Golf Course.
Let's keep Dan and his family in our fine community.

Dear Jerry. I would like to express my strong support for Dale Smigelsky and
Matt Bryant as the team to operate the Southridge Golf Course. These two
gentle-
men have done an excellent job of managing City Park Nine with a great deal
of visibilityang-coudeousness toward -ue-the4olfers. l migbtalso say that
their
moral background is above question. Though I play City Park more often than
Southridge, because of the fee difference, and will miss Dale and Matt, they
are
the best choice for Southridge. 1 know that the men and women golfers of Fort
Collirmwitt give them their full support. Jerry Stahmer, 9115 Richmond Dr. #4,

Dear Golf Club Members:
I would like to recommend Dan Bruntz for the position of Golf
Course Pro and Manager of Southridge Golf Course.
I have played the Ft. Collin's courses for several years and
Southridge is my favorite local course so I am interested in the
choice of a good manager for this course. I have served as a
Course Ranger at Southridge this past year so I have had the pleasure
of working with Dan. He has been a very fair person to work with
and his dedication to the course has been evident in his work habits
and interaction with the employees and clients of the course.
If you choose Dan as the new manager and pro for Southridge,
I feel you will have selected a very dedicated, quality person for
the position. Thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
-,Ltor

Jerry,
I don't know if my two cents counts, but here is my opinion.
I have had an-annual-passfor the last fivey-ears and play all three
courses. f have also been in the men's league at City Park for the last
8 years. I know Jim Greer and Dale Smigelsky better than Derek Cordova.
I believe Dale would be agood choice for the -position at Southridge He
always keeps the client first in all his dealings. He demonstrates a
positive attitude under all types of circumstances. He cares about the
courses and the image of golf in the city. I have always enjoyed talking
to him about issues conceminggolf and any wodd event that the troops
are talking about. I find his easygoing matter fits well with the
golfer's view of never ending improvements to their game. I believe his
style would be right for Southridge after the negative image that Derek
has created for the City.
The other issue I have noticed concerns the quality of care at City Park
compared to Southridge and Collindale. City Part seems to be less well
cared for than the other two. Why is there a vast difference?
Thank you for listening to my opinion.

Re:
Southridge Contract
The purpose of this memo is to send a letter of reference for Derek Cordova for the position of Golf
Professional at Southridge Golf Course.
I have known Derek for over 20 years, as has the city of Fort Collins in their contractual agreements
with Derek. I would like to pass along the experiences of a citizen who has worked with Derek on many
occasions during that 20 years.
I am a past president of the Collindale Women's Golf group, (two different years), and as such, had
memberships in the organization of up to 60 to 80 women participate at both Collindale and Southridge
Golf Clubs. I started a satellite group at Southridge back in the early 90's for business women to play
golf on Monday Evenings.
I also have been the chair and co-chair of the Fort Collins Women's City Golf Championship
Tournament for 7 different years. This tournament is held annually at Collindale and Southridge Golf
Clubs. Two different years the tournament was run as a fundraiser for Crossroads Safehouse for
battered women and their children. We had up to 80 players at these tournaments.
These undertakings have been quite thrilling and frustrating at the same time. Thanks to Bill Metier at
Collindale and Derek Cordova at Southridge, all the tournaments, (especially the fundraisers) were
very successful. I had other city golf professionals actually laugh at me, when I proposed that a city
tournament be run as a fundraiser for Crossroadsl Derek, on the other hand was very supportive and
worked with me very closely to make sure that these events were successful. (both in foodservice and
as a golf professional at Southridge)
The Monday business golf group mentioned above would have never taken place, had it not been for
Derek, in the early nineties. He made sure that all the women were treated with respect and courtesy.
An often heard complaint at many golf courses is that "Women belong at home, not on the golf course".
Fortunately, the women of Fort Collins have had a Derek Cordova on their side, when it comes to
groups and tournaments playing at Southridge.
So, regardless of the innuendo, rumors, and probably false charges against Derek Cordova this past
few weeks, I believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty. I would like to cast my vote of
confidence to Derek on his contractual bid to retain his position of Golf Professional at Southridge Golf
Club. He is a known figure in our golf community, and has been for the last 20 years for the City of Fort
Collins. Let's all put our support behind him.
