HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESPONSE - RFP - P782 CITY PARK NINE GOLF PROFESSIONAL CONCESSIONJanuary 29, 2000 Dear Committee Members, I would like to introduce myself to you. I was born and raised in Ft. Collins, Colorado. I graduated from Ft. Collins High School in 1964 and learned to play golf at the City Park Golf Club. I left Fort Collins in 1966 via the US Army and returned in May of 2000. My golf career is extensive and I have a great amount of experience and knowledge to share. I've been a Head Professional for 14 years and a Golf Director for six years. My philosophy is to give back to what made me successful and I would like very much to give back to the City of Fort Collins. I have the experience, professional knowledge and maturity to really make this happen. I am extremely honest, sincere and capable. I very much would like to share this with the golfers and the City of Fort Collins. My strengths are that I am a very good teacher, player and administrator. I have been successful at every level and feel confident in applying for this position. Sincerely, #4.) (A) Quality merchandise will be presented nicely and in a professional manner. Competitive prices on all merchandise and services. I have maintained and operated my own golf shop for 15 years with experience at both private and public facilities. I know how to merchandise and my employees will be expected to do the same. (B) Services offered will be, club fitting, club repair, driving range, lessons, club rentals and anything else customers may desire. Driving range will be upgraded with new practice balls. New rental clubs and pull carts will be added and upgraded as needed. (C) Customer service and relations must be consistent and professional. Even if difficult situations might arise, it is important to rise above and resolve. We can always find a way to improve, advance and expand service outward. (D) Lessons will be available as needed and requested. I believe you must know how to teach and relate the game to all levels of golfers. Group (containing 6 people), semi -private group (containing 2 - 3 people) and individual lessons will be offered everyday by appointment at competitive prices. I have taught for 30 years and have been well received. I tutored the South Dakota State Boy's High School Champion and the South Dakota State Men's Medal Play Champion. In addition, I helped many others to improve and enjoy their game. I have a strong desire to help all golfers and especially juniors. I enjoy seeing them smile! I believe a good balance of shop management, course management and time on the lesson tee are essential. #5.) My financial operations will be financed by myself through the year 2005. I have a letter of credit from the following, Merrill Lynch, Northwestern Mutual Life and US Bank. #6.) Regarding course monitoring, I feel this starts from the top. I will implement a pace of play and train my staff to control and monitor it. Example - 2 hours for 9 holes - have checkpoints after 3 and 6 - make golfers aware through training and communication. I took over Meadowbrook Golf Course in 1989 the pace of play was 5 - 6 hours on a very difficult course. Beginning in 1990 the pace of play was 4 hours and 10 minutes maximum. This trend continued until I left in 1999. #7.) I have had extensive experience in food and beverage operating concessions at the three courses in Rapid City, South Dakota for ten years. The operations were similar to the City Park Nine. I provided beer, sodas, candy, sandwiches and other snack items daily as well as catering for all tournaments and special events. I would continue to provide and expand with the services already in place and adjust the food and beverage, if need be, after the first year.
