These prices represent the adjustments required to offset costs associated with labor, equipment operation, and materials. Total price is based upon the original bid quantities prepared by the City. Labor rates have been adjusted to account for a 4% increase resulting from the rising cost to provide workers compensation insurance and medical benefits. Equipment rates have been adjusted to reflect equipment ownership and operation costs, The largest contributor to the equipment rate increase is the cost of fuel, Finally, material rates reflecting the current cost of asphalt binders has been adjusted. The increased cost for hot bituminous asphalt material has been established to offset the rising; cost for petroleum products, burner fuels, aggregate, and asphalt binders. This adjustment amounts to $3.38 per tort.
