M.B.S. Biology, Cum Laude, University of Colorado, Boulder 1988
B.A. Biological Sciences, University of Colorado, Boulder 1983
Areas of Expertise Concept Development and Implementation, Project Management, Project
Estimating, Environmental Assessments, Construction, Project Planning,
Project Review, Post Construction Reviews, Contract Coordination, and
Subcontractor Selection.
12 Years Experience Mr. Windell is responsible for managing all aspects of the company's five
independent P&L centers. In his twelve years of construction management
experience, he has been a key player in the implementation of a diverse
array of projects ranging from $500,000 to $2.5 million. Brad is involved
in all aspects of both project management and company management.
Areas of expertise range from preparation of bid packages, thorough
design review and construction supervision. During Brad's tenure at AWC
his leadership has led to being awarded contracts from entities that include
private landowners, developers, municipalities and government agencies.
He has worked as both prime contractor and subcontractor in a variety
capacities. His commitment to total quality management has enabled him
to build a solid company staffed with dedicated experts in a variety of
fields. Currently Brad is assisting in improving the Design, Build, Grow
project delivery system utilized by the company. His attention is also
focused on ever improving client services, reducing project time, and
becoming increasingly cost competitive thus increasing market share and
profitability. These qualities illustrate a common conviction and
compassion found at AWC.
Brad's most recent notable projects have involved the implementation of a
combination of new bio-technical erosion control treatments and field
proven techniques to stabilize a 0.7 mile reach of streambank in the 123-
acre park adjacent to the Stapleton International Airport. The goals of the
project have been to enhance water quality and to improve the severely
degraded stream, riparian and wetland habitat. Another recent notable
project is the ongoing habitat restoration of Skyland Meadows
Development; a high -end residential development developed around a
natural park with several large ponds and waterfalls.

Expertise Habitat Design; Bioengineered Streambank Protection; Aquatic Wildlife
Surveys; Aquatic Habitat Assessment; Fisheries Studies.
Thirty Years Dr. Windell is responsible for the conception, oversight , coordination and
Experience implementation of the watershed -related projects performed by the
organization. He has designed and managed construction for many miles of
instream, streambank, and riparian area habitat restoration projects
throughout the Western U.S., including both coldwater and warm water
aquatic systems. Using the European tested methods of biotechnical slope
protection, Dr. Windell has modified and adapted these techniques for use in
stabilizing streambank environments along the mountainous and plains
streams of the and west. He has also worked extensively with the
reclamation of urban streams to improve their stability, water quality
benefits, aesthetics, aquatic wildlife values, and recreational opportunities.
Feature projects include: the Boulder Creek Watershed Project - involving
three miles of stream restoration in the urban environment and five miles of
non -point source pollution control improvements in the agricultural
environment; the Clear Creek Watershed Project - three mid- elevation mine
site reclamation projects combined with two miles of urban fishery habitat
restoration; and the Goose Creek Watershed Project - master planning stream
restoration for seven miles of channel below a tailwater dam release with
construction completed for four miles of improvements.
Additional stream -related projects, fishery evaluations, and habitat
assessments have been completed by Dr. Windell on the San Juan River,
Colorado; Jordan River, Utah; Rio Chama, New Mexico; Bear River,
Wyoming; Colorado River, Colorado; and Sand Creek, Colorado, among
others.
