Due to the grade change on the sidewalk along Spring Creek Plaza the
existing landscaping (juniper shrubs) needed to be cut back. We had
the assistant City Forester explained that the shrubs would turn brown
if we were to cut them back. The property owner shared in the cost of
removing the junipers and replanting smaller shrubs, etc...

Both the east and west sides of Shields Street had areas that w e
did not consider prior to construction to need sod installation. After
the project started to take form, we changed our minds to include these

We poured exposed aggregate concrete in an area that we had
originally intended to place sod and irrigation. T his area was
too small for irrigation and we did not want to have to worry
about replacing the sod in this area.

On the west half of Shields Street in the reconstruciton area we
found a lot of utilities that were too shallow for us to stabilize with
flyash. Terracon suggested the geogrid stabilization material.

The City of Fort Collins Milling Crew helped with our overnight
operation on June 21, 2002. Connell Resources supplied the
extra trucking for the City mill. The area that the City milled
will not be paid to Connell as it was originally intended on the
bid documents.

We asked the traffic control company to keep the message
boards up for a few days after the project was complete to
thank the citizens of Fort Collins for their patience during the
construction process.
The specialty sighs were put together by United Rental because
the City of Fort Collins Traffic Department did not have time
to work on the signs in the necessary time frame.

after further investigation we found that the Coco Mat
would help with the drought issues and seed germination.
