Kenneth J Sargent
Statement of Bidder Qualifications
Porter Industries has worked the past three decades on developing one of the
most knowledgeable carpet cleaning teams available in the Northern
Colorado region We currently employ seven IICRC certified technicians in
our working staff Each one of these technicians must attend at least one
additional certification class per year to maintain their standing with the
HCRC. The Advanced Spot and Stain class will be the certification course
the group will be attending together on November 13, 1998 for re-
certification in the 98-99 calendar year
Porter Industries is a member of HCRC and PCUCA and is responsible for
the maintenance of millions of square feet of carpet each year. We clean
hundreds of upholstered chairs each year and have extensive experience in
fabric partition cleaning
Our experience in using dry cleaning compounds is limited to about 40,000

Business Philosophy
The business philosophy of Porter Industries, Inc that has been our
compass since 1967
* Do what you say you are going to do
* Do what is right for your customer
* Be responsive to each concern
* Take care of your customers and they will take care of you
To accomplish these goals, we are committed to providing outstanding
custodial services that are customer -focused through a program of
continuous improvement
0
Continuous improvement is made possible by developing a mutually
beneficial partnership with our customer and providing a team of
associates who are tramed, professional, respected and motivated to do
whatever is necessary to adapt to the changing needs of each customer
We feel strongly that our industry provides a very valuable service that
not only helps to protect and preserve the physical assets of a business
but also provides a safe, clean and healthy working environment that
promotes the efficiency and well-being of the company's human assets
We believe it is impossible to consistently deliver this type of prestige
service without highly involving the team members who are the front
line workers performing these valuable tasks Our company has taken
significant steps to bring each team member to an awareness of their
significance in achieving continuous quality improvement
We believe that each committed team member should have the ability
to make a reasonable living rather than be expected to work at
minimum level wages In addition, we believe that additional
compensation should be made available to those team members who
assist the company in becoming more productive and raise the overall
level of quality service to our customer
H
Our company begins the process of focusing on safety at the point in time
that an applicant begins employment Why? Because we genuinely care
about our employees and it's the law it makes good business sense to
do so One needless accident could effect the health and well being of a
person and could cost thousands of dollars in medical bills and lost time
expenses
Our industry is one of constant motion Our people are constantly bending,
stooping, kneeling, twisting, operating equipment, and exposed to different
types of cleaning supplies and chemicals They are also potentially exposed
to "site -specific" risks depending on the job and its location Our approach
is two -fold first, overall safety awareness training and secondly, site -
specific training
Each job site utilizes a Haz-Comm Program and an updated list of the
cleaning products being used All containers are properly labeled Our
supervisors and managers are required to inspect the closets on a monthly
basis and complete the form provided Through these procedures OSHA
compliance is maintained
Occasionally, we access outside advice or consulting regarding specific
questions we are not able to answer internally Our insurance broker, Flood
& Peterson Insurance Company has a loss control contact His services are
available to us as a valued customer

Acknowledgement of Receipt
Porter Industries acknowledges the receipt of Addendum 1 dated October
21, 1998 in reference to Bid #5300
ell
Kenneth J Sargent
Statement of Bidder Qualifications
Porter Industries has worked the past three decades on developing one of the
most knowledgeable carpet cleaning teams available in the Northern
Colorado region We currently employ seven IICRC certified technicians in
I our working staff Each one of these technicians must attend at least one
additional certification class per year to maintain their standing with the
IICRC The Advanced Spot and Stain class will be the certification course
the group will be attending together on November 13, 1998 for re-
certification in the 98-99 calendar year
Porter Industries is a member of IICRC and PCUCA and is responsible for
the maintenance of millions of square feet of carpet each year We clean
hundreds of upholstered chairs each year and have extensive experience in
fabric partition cleaning
Our experience in using dry cleaning compounds is limited to about 40,000
sq ft per year and is limited only by the number of customers who request
this type of service We have encountered many of the normal difficulties
involved in cleaning with dry compounds and feel confident we can provide
the service desired by the City of Fort Collins in their carpet maintenance
contract.
