The delivery date will be September 1, 2007 per your request. I would like to note that the equipment I have in bid # 1 exactly meets the requested specification. The additional bids provide an alternative if the cost of the equipment in bid #1 exceeds the budget. As a community member I am excited that the City of Fort Collins will have a full service recreation center available to our community for both visitors and residents. Please review the enclosed reference list of health clubs, corporations, municipalities and multi family housing facilities where I have placed and maintained exercise equipment. These local facilities are my resume' of customers and I `m sure will give you an accurate assessment of my services. Please don't hesitate to call them. I would like to specifically address the following areas: equipment, pricing, and service. EQUIPMENT The industry has changed in the past few years where manufacturers arc creating a three year product by using lower quality components. This in turn allows them to sell their product at a low price which results in having to replace or overhaul the product after that three year period. Star Trac has not followed that model and still uses the highest quality components available today. The following refers to bid # 1 and briefly highlights the products features. Star Trac manufactured the first commercial treadmill in 1986, and there are still some of them in the field today. The Star Trac Pro S treadmill can withstand 12-15 hours a day use with very little down time. These treadmills are able to accumulate 50,000 miles without a belt change! With a reversible deck only a belt is needed at that time. It also weighs in at 5501bs., making it capable of handling even the largest user and with that stability it will withstand the high intense user as well. The upper body component allows the user to achieve an excellent total body workout. The Star Trac Pro upright and recumbent bikes have very little shrouding which is usually the subject of abuse when the user mounts and dismounts the bike. They step on the shroud and typically it breaks. The upright bikes have a 2x4 oval aluminum tube for the user to step on and the recumbent is a walk through design allowing very easy access to the bike. The ride is extremely smooth and programs are vaned and with the fan in the display the user has a positive work out experience. Additionally, all cardio-vascular equipment will come with an extended three year parts and labor warranty. Star Trac Impact strength equipment is constructed of 2x2, 20, 2x4 with land 11 guage steel tubing. These tubes are welded together at almost all points of construction making for a heavy stable machine which is the key to a machine lasting a very long time. An exercise placard is readily available along with easy to view and a wide range of seat adjustments. High density two inch thick upholstery provides long life and Kevlar belts are just about impossible to break which decreases liability to the facility. PRICE The price of exercise equipment is quite high and must be taken into consideration when making a purchasing decision. With today's strict purchasing guidelines many manufacturers have designed equipment to meet the required specifications, but have compromised the overall quality of the equipment by using lower quality components which will provide a low price. Quality components and construction is extremely important and must be considered when making the purchase. Although the higher quality product may initially cost more over the life of the product you will save money. SERVICE The reality is that exercise equipment does have down time but the key is minimizing that down time. Star Trac Fitness overnights all parts for a repair to the service provider. Sport & Fitness, Inc. is the local service provider for Star Trac and is committed to prompt and efficient repair. Same day service is the available when contacted early in the day. Additionally, if Sport & Fitness, Inc. is awarded this bid in full, a no charge quarterly preventive maintenance contract will be provided for one full year.
