Q: What is a Y-mount 3 rail attachment system? A: This is an aftermarket fore -end available from Colt that is a standard fore -end with 3 short (approximately 2 inch long) rails mounted on either side of the fore - end and on the bottom. If looking down the sight line of the rifle the rails would be mounted at the 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, and 6 o'clock positions. Please submit the product that you feel most closely matches this configuration and note any exceptions. Q: AR rifles do not typically have an ambidextrous bolt release. Does someone make one? A: We are not particularly aware of one available for AR rifles. One of the things we are looking for is the most ambidextrous features available because we have many left hand shooters and we want our training to be as consistent as possible. If the rifle you are submitting a bid for does not have this feature, simply indicate so on the bid form. You will not be eliminated from the process solely for not meeting this spec. We will consider all responsive and responsible bids, and determine the one that most closely matches our needs. Q: If our rifles come with one magazine standard, should I only indicate 2 magazines as an item on the bid? A: We require a total of three (3) magazines for each rifle we purchase. Bidders are to fill in the Unit Price and the Extended Price for the magazines in the appropriate space under the groups PATROL UNIT RIFLES and SWAT UNIT RIFLES on the Bid Sheet. Q: If I check "No" on one of the bid specifications will I be automatically ruled out of the process? A: No. The bids will be evaluated for Best Value to the City; i.e., how many specifications they were able to meet without exception, compared to cost. We encourage all vendors to submit the product(s) that they feel most closely fits the listed Bid Specification.
