Questions and Answers
1.Let me know if you’d like to see an alternate to the traditional wood
a.NO. The City will not accept an alternative product, only Cedar Shingle.
2.Please confirm whether the gutters will be replaced to a more historically appropriate
style of gutter, or whether gutters are to remain as noted in the plans as reinstallation of
the existing.
a.The gutters are to be removed(salvaged) and re-installed as needed for the
completion of the roof scope per Note G3 on sheet A0.21 of the Bid Documents.
3.Please indicate whether replacement lap siding is to match the redwood species of the
existing.
a.Yes, The replacement lap siding is to match the existing redwood siding.
4.Please confirm that the demo scope to be priced of the removal of the existing shingles
will be for one layer of existing shingles. If desired to be quoted as such, please indicate
whether removal of additional roof layers should be estimated as an Add Alternate.
a.The previous Permit indicates that the roof was torn down to deck and replaced,
include the removal of one layer of existing shingles.
5.Areas of fascia and soffit requiring carpentry attention were observed at the walk
through. Please indicate whether this is to be included in the pricing.
a.Only include the carpentry work that is shown on the bid documents.
