How tall are the removable McNichols perforated aluminum panels? Full height or just the top 5’-0”? It appears that there is a combination of horizontal safety rails and panels. Response: The panel shall be full height panels (2 x 5’) as the railroad does not allow any openings bigger then 2” x 2”. Manufacturers will have to work out how to secure the panel and handrail and still allow the panel to be removable. 2. How are the detachable aluminum panels to be attached to the bridge? Response: Manufacturer will have to design the system and submit shop drawings for approval. 3. What detail is provided for the interface of the panel with respect to the pipe handrail? Response: Manufacturer will have to design the system and submit shop drawing for approval. See responses to questions 1 & 2. 4. A custom panel that is blocked out for the attachment of the pipe handrail? Response: City prefers not to have a custom panel, see previous responses. 5. Is there a detail for the pedestrian railing pipe caps? Response: A standard threaded pipe cap as shown on Sheet #60 Railing Elevation, Contractor may propose alternate details for approval. 6. What is the roof support system? We typically provide a steel gable frame and purlin system that is field bolted to the bridge prior to erecting the structure. Is there any details we should follow? Response: Manufacturer to design and provided shop drawings for approval. 7. What is the roof pitch, 4/12? Response: Correct, roof pitch to be 4/12. 8. Response: No, horizontal safety rail is not required as the full height removal panel opening meets the safety opening requirement. 15. Is the intent of design to include a true, ADA compliant handrail element to the bridge or would a more traditional rub rail be preferred? The Span 2 Elevation view on Sheet No. 46 depicts a true handrail. No additional reference to handrail or rub rail specs were noted in the 628 – Bridge Girder and Deck Unit section.
