Questions and Answers
1. Regarding specifications:
a. ¾ inch short - Is this a model 35 full ¾ in or a 5/8 X ¾ model 25?
It is a model 35
b. 1 ½ inch and 2in Commercial meters – Is the expectation that these would
be M120 and M170? The M170 is only 170 gpm maximum and 100 gpm
continuous. The 2in ultrasonic is only 160 gpm maximum and
continuous. Both meters meet all AWWA associated specifications.
These would most likely be the pd - disc meters
c. 1 ½ inch and 2in Irrigation meters – Is the expectation that these would be
turbo or ultrasonic meters? 2in turbo series meter complies with flow rate
but requires strainer to meet lay length requirement.
The City would accept either a turbo or ultrasonic.
d. Badger Meter provides a “jumper cable” that has one end a pigtail and
the other a Twist Tight connector. This connector choice would allow the
City greater flexibility for future change out capability. Please provide
connector preference.
The City prefers the wire to be prewired (potted) to the register with no connectors
on the other end.
2. Regarding the 3in and 4in separate UME, are these meant to be dropped into
meters currently within the water system or made to pair with the 3in and 4in
meters listed above?
A replaceable UME-Unitized Measuring Element is required for the new meters.
3. Regarding general specification #6, is the expectation that the register must report at
least 6 dials or only 6 dials? Please confirm that 8-dial HRE encoders and/or 9-dial HRE
LCD encoders are responsive and acceptable.
The Citys current billing system cannot handle a decimal multiplier. It can handle 1,10 or
100. So 8 or 9 dials do not work with our billing system.
4. Regarding general specification #1, please confirm that the standard C7XX is acceptable
based on the meter type (e.g. AWWA standard C715 refers to ultrasonic meters).
Yes it is acceptable.
5. Regarding warranty documentation, all meter types have their own warranty
documentation. May we list the warranty document numbers on the City’s form and
include the documents in an appendix?
Yes, that is acceptable.
6. Regarding resulting contract due upon award, is the City’s expectation that the contract
term would be for three years, and the chosen vendor will be able to provide updated
pricing each time an order is placed? Or will updated pricing be provided at a standard
interval, such as every six months or annually?
Award will be annual with two (2) possible one (1) year extensions at the City’s sole
discretion. Annually, the awarded bidder will be contacted and ask to provide updated
pricing in formation.
7. Would the City be willing to extend the due date an additional 2 weeks?
Yes
