With Harmony being a high-speed arterial and work close to I-25 SB Off Ramp, to set this closure within spec, we will need to set the taper for WB on the ES/O Weitzel. a. This will then also impact the I-25 NB Off ramp as it is a triple left turn movement, we will have to close 1 of them. b. This has the potential to back traffic onto I-25 being how large of volume of traffic exit onto Harmony. c. This would require permits from both CDOT & Timnath – Will the city assist in obtaining these permits and coordination? Response: Contractor needs and traffic control approach will dictate the need for permits. The City will facilitate/assist the contractor obtaining permits if necessary and assist with coming up with solutions to avoid impacts to the traveling public. 2. As part of question #1, the impact to off ramps from I-25 and the impact to Harmony, will we utilize Message Boards? If yes, How many – I can easily see to grab the attention of as many motorists as possible, 1 NB CR 5, 1 SB CR 5, 1 WB Harmony EO CR 5, 1 SB I-25 & 1 NB I-25. (5 Total), just for work on WB Harmony. Please clarify quantity, per each etc. Response: Yes, at least one VMB will be needed each travel direction on Harmony at a minimum and one VMB located on the off ramp to alert motorists. 3. Being that the work along Harmony is spaced out, will the city allow us to work both EB & WB Harmony at the same time if we maintain ped access? Response: Generally yes, the City will allow a lane closure on both sides of Harmony if pedestrian access is maintained and the project work can be expedited. This approach may not be allowed when work is at signalized intersections. Traffic control may require adjustments in the field based on traffic patterns and field observations in order to maintain traffic operations and safety for the project, pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. 4. With crews working so close to High-Speed traffic, will the city approve a speed reduction on Harmony? Response: The contractor will need to submit this request to the City Traffic Engineer for approval during the planning process for consideration. Addendum 3 Page 3 of 4 5. Is a bid bond required? Response: A bid bond is not required. 6. Do expansion joints need to be caulked? Response: No- expansion joints do not need to be caulked, except for when expansion joints are located in concrete pavement (this would be paid for under 608.34- “Concrete Pavement Joint Sealing”). 7. Is the Contractor meant to trim branches only in the work area if required? (Section 02000 Special revisions, subsection 201.02). Response: No, the City will work to coordinate with the Forestry Department and/or Code Compliance to achieve proper heights of tree branches before the contractor starts work. 8. What is the maximum distance for landings on handicap ramps? Response: Curb Ramp construction shall comply with Section R304 of the 2023 PROWAG with the maximum ramp length being 15 feet per R 304.2.1. 9. Is the Contractor allowed to park within the street? Response: Contractors will be allowed to park on the street where it is not restricted (some streets have time restrictions, i.e. 2 hour parking, contractors may apply for parking obstruction permits through the City). Contractor personnel parking shall not park within a work zone that will cause work zone to be extended to accommodate personal vehicles and create impacts on arterial roadways. 10.
