SUBJECT: Water Fixture Unit Summary
This memo has been prepared to document the water fixture units at 504 S. Whitcomb St associated with
the existing residence and the addition of the proposed alley house and estimated water demand.
The proposed alley house at 504 S. Whitcomb St adds a total of 7 new plumping fixtures. Using the load
values from the 2018 International Plumbing Code, it was determined that the proposed fixture units, in
addition to the existing fixture units, would require a ¾” water service. It is recommended that the service
line to the alley house be upsized to a 1” line, a minimum of 5 ft beyond the meter, to assist in reducing
pressure loss due to the length of service. See the attached spreadsheet for Plumbing Fixture Unit
Calculations.
