HomeMy WebLinkAboutHIGHWAY I-25 FIRST ANNEXATION & ZONING - 104-88, A - CORRESPONDENCE - CITY STAFF• CITY OF FORT COLLINS OFFICE OF POLICE CHIEF July 22, 1988 Captain Gary Coe Colorado State Patrol 201 14th Avenue Greeley, Colorado 80631 Dear Captain Coe: The City of Fort Collins is seeking to annex property on the eastern boundary of the current city limits. The proposed annexation is a "house keeping" action to bring this land, which is presently within the Urban Growth Area into the city. The process will assure that any future development of the property will be performed at city standards. Included in this proposed annexation is the portion of Interstate 25 between County Roads 48 and 52. The city limits are currently contiguous to the Interstate on the west and a parcel of annexed land exists east of the Interstate and north of Vine Drive. Due to the sparse development in this area and its remoteness from currently defined patrol beats, Fort Collins Police Services does not feel appropriate traffic enforcement and traffic accident investigation could be provided on the section of interstate highway proposed for annexation. It is our request that the Colorado State Patrol continue to provide these services on the interstate highway, if annexation does occur, at least until such time that future development warrants the consistent deployment of city officers to that area. Thank you for your consideration of this matter. Please contact me if any additional information is needed for your review.
