Mantz Subdivision (940 Pioneer Ave.); Fort Collins, CO Rear Covered Patio — Welding and Framing Observations, Dear Ms. Cramer, �✓ l �f� 1 LJ5 A representative of Shear Engineering Corporation was present on Friday, May 4, 2018 in order to observe and asses the structural welding of the structural steel members for the rear covered patio project. This observation was made to confirm that all welds provided at the site were completed in substantial compliance with the direction, details, and specifications noted on the revised detail sheet for the revision to steel columns prepared by Shear Engineering Corporation dated 01/31/2018. Shear Engineering Corporation was contacted on Friday, May 4, 2018 regarding a comment provided by City of Fort Collins Building Department personnel following a frame inspection. It is our understanding that the comment is related to installing lateral shear blocking at the ends of the existing roof trusses that partially extend over the rear covered patio. Based on our .analysis and observations of the existing conditions, Shear Engineering Corporation approves the existing framing as installed and does not require the installation of new lateral shear blocking at the ends of the existing roof trusses. Mantz Subdivision (940 Pioneer Ave.); Fort Collins, CO Rear Covered Patio — Excavation and Foundation Observations Dear Ms. Cramer, /?// A representative of Shear Engineering Corporation conducted foundation excavation observations for the rear covered patio project at the above referenced site on Thursday, April 26, 2018. At this time, it was noted that the existing CW foundation wall was removed down to the existing footing. Due to the size, depth, and location of the existing footing, Shear Engineering Corporation approved bearing the new foundation piers directly on the existing footing. This lot is suitable for the provided footing foundation system. The rear covered patio foundation plan prepared by Shear Engineering Corporation dated September 2017 was used. The revised detail sheet for the revision to steel columns prepared by Shear Engineering Corporation dated 01/31/2018 was also used. Footings were designed for a maximum allowable soil bearing capacity of 1,500 pounds per square foot (dead load plus full live load) and a minimum dead load of 500 pounds per square foot. Shear Engineering Corporation conducted rear covered patio foundation pier formwork and reinforcing placement observations on Friday, April 27, 2018. These observations were made to confirm that all foundation pier formwork and reinforcing placement were completed in substantial compliance with the direction, details and specifications provided by Shear Engineering Corporation.
