Dear Ms. Gulley:
LLC
CRAFTING
On April 10, 2019 we visually observed the foundation wall reinforcing placed in the forms for the
residence being constructed at the above referenced site. It is our opinion the reinforcement was in
general conformance with our Foundation Plan, Project Number 3185-01-0IA.
We also observed the UFER ground rod was embedded in the concrete approximately Feast of the
retaining wall at the northeast corner of the foundation.
The conclusions presented in this letter are not intended to cover structural items other than those
listed, site grading/elevations, setbacks, subsurface soil conditions, or architectural features of the
building. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, feel free to call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Advanced Engineering,

Dear Ms. Gulley:
You have asked us to consult with you regrading four questions that the building inspector had
concerning the framing of the above referenced residence which is currently under construction.
1. The adjustable steel columns do not need to be welded to the bottom flange of the steel beam if
the tabs are fully bent around the flange on each side.
2. The greenhouse framing should conform to the framing specifications shown on the plan including
headers, trim studs, king studs, and sheathing.
3. The holdown strap to the left of the overhead door at the shop is not needed if the end stud next
to the tall concrete retaining wall is attached to the concrete wall with three or more bolts and if the
sill plate below has two or more anchor bolts.
4. The wall that is between the house and the garage/shop may be framed with 2x4 studs as shown
in the architectural plans, provided a minimum of four studs are placed below each of the girder
trusses.
The recommendations and conclusions presented in this letter are not intended to cover structural
items other than those listed, site grading/elevations, setbacks, subsurface soil conditions, or
architectural features of the building.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.

Dear Ms. Gulley:
On August 7, 2019 we visually observed portions of the exterior perimeter drain and damp proofing
(at a test pit) for the residence being constructed at the above referenced site. On August 12, 2019
we reviewed photographs of the exterior perimeter drain and damp proofing taken during
installation. It is our opinion the perimeter drain appears to be in general conformance with the soils
report by Earth Engineering Company, Project Number 18-01-066, dated May 22, 2018.
The conclusions presented in this letter arc not intended to cover items other than those listed, site
grading/elevations, setbacks, subsurface soil conditions, structural, or architectural features of the
building. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, feel free to call if you have any questions.

Proposed Gulley Residence

EEC Project No. 18-01-066
(Ms. Gulley:
As you requested, on April 41h, 2019, Earth Engineering Company, Inc. (EEC) personnel provided
construction observation services for the referenced project. On that date, drilled pier foundations
were being constructed for the referenced single-family residence. Construction observation
services were provided by EEC personnel on a part-time basis and included observations of the
pier drilling operation and observation of pier steel reinforcement. Results of the field observations
completed by EEC personnel during the referenced period are included with this report.
On April 4th, 2019, EEC personnel observed the drilling operations for the caisson foundations.
Items observed by EEC personnel included plumbness of the drilled shafts, stratification of soils
and bedrock encountered, caisson length, cleanliness of the bearing surface and difficulties
encountered during excavation. The materials encountered in the pier borings observed in the
garage and crawlspace consisted of greylbrown and rust claystone bedrock at the base of the
excavation which extended to the depths explored. The piers were drilled a minimum of 28 feet in
length with a minimum penetration of 16 feet into bedrock. The pier hole bottoms appeared
relatively clean with water infiltration observed in some of the piers at the time of our observations.
The drilled shafts observed appeared plumb, were approximately 12 inches in diameter and
extended to a depth of approximately 28 feet below the garage and crawlspace excavation levels
at various locations. At the time of our observations, three #5 bars were being placed in the piers
and the placement of concrete was not observed. The observed pier excavations appeared to be in
general accordance with the construction plans prepared by Advanced Engineering, LLC; dated
October 23, 2018.
