Per your request, personnel from our office made a site visit to the above mentioned location on
January 15, 2016. The purpose of our site visit was to review/inspect the removal of an interior wall
which separated the living room from the kitchen. Observations from the site visit determined that
the wall which was removed supported ceiling joists only. By removing the wall, an opening of
approximately 10'-8" was created and it was seen that a (2) 1 3/4" x 11 7/8" LVL beam had been
installed to span that opening. Our review is based on a ceiling dead load of 5psf and ceiling live
load of 20psf, and concluded that the (2) 1 3/4" x 11 7/8" LVL beam is appropriate to supportthe
design loads.
