Re: Request to vacate easement on East side of property at 1109 Heatherwood Lane
We are in the process of preparing to move to property we own at 1109 Heatherwood Lane. We would
like to make a small remodel to allow us to create a bedroom on the main level of this home and to update
the kitchen. This project involves adding to the exterior of the house.
The City of Fort Collins Engineering Department has granted us a Minor Amendment to adjust set -back
requirements to enable us to build to our lot line on the East side of our property (adding about 6 feet)
and to extend to the South 12 feet.
During this process and after we received the Minor Amendment we requested, it was discovered that
there was a utility easement straddling our East lot line. It is our belief that all utilities run across the
southern border of the property, but we need to be sure that there are no buried utilities in the easement on
the East side.
We are working with the Engineering Department of the City to vacate this easement using a formal
process which includes contacting all of the utilities that potentially could have buried lines in this area. I
should note that there is a large open space to the East of the property.
In order to expedite this request, I am contacting all relevant utilities myself.
Please use this letter as your authority to provide us with documentation that reveals the location of any
utility lines in the easement to the East of our property.
