Increased emphasis on controlling stray light in outdcxt applications is .ending designers in search of new lighting owls. Lithotim Lighting now addresses these needs with full cutoff luminaires equipped with application specific distribution patterns, • THE NEED: Ti pro idc parking lot lighting that offers safety, and security in an energy efficient and cost effective manner. • THE CHALLENGE: To protect adjacent property from objectionable glare and spill light; to put the right amount of light in the right place in the Most cuss effective manner. Ripley - Cathy Subject: Willow Street Lofts Cathy, Attached please find the analysis we were discussing. I did keep the replacement fixture to the WSTM (mini) even though it's optics are not the best. They are a little fatter left right and a little shorter forward throw than the original TWAC. This gives us some improvement in some areas with a little bit less light in others. We could certainly go the bigger WST and outperform either optics but with a bigger and more expensive fixture. Please take a gander at the attached and let me know if you have any questions. It allows light to actually escape forward AND to the sides while radically limiting backlight thus making the parking lot it's used in safe (without dark shadows between perimeter fixtures in the lot itself). With external shielding, the side to side throw can be severely cut off and not light the areas needed in the lot if the backlight is controlled well, while if the side to side is maintained you often have more back spill than desired at the sides. The R4SC is such an innovation that the manufacturer has even put together a full color brochure to explain the physical properties of the optical system. I have attached that brochure to this email for your review. If someone wants to insist upon installing external shielding to a fixture that does not need it, that is something beyond my control. There is no factory supplied external shield since it has been deemed not optically necessary due to the availability of the R4SC optical system. I'm sure a contractor could cut up some sheet metal for you, paint it and attach it to the fixture if absolutely necessary, but I would try to plan on evaluating the fixture in the field first, and then determining if such measures are really necessary, and if they would inhibit the in lot performance. I hope this explanation is of help to you Have a great day.
