College Ave. Fort Collins, CO 80524 Attn: Ted Shepard Dear Sirs: I am writing this letter in reference to the zoning submittal for U S WEST Wireless, L.L.C. for the proposed cellular facility at Poudre High School. The high school is requiring that U S WEST install a chain link fence completely surrounding the equipment rather than the cedar fence that is preferred by zoning. There are some valid reasons for this request that I would like you to take into consideration when evaluating this proposal. The Site that U S WEST is proposing to build is at the baseball field at the high school. Our equipment will be placed behind the east dugout. The batting cage adjacent to the Site and the parameter of the field is enclosed with a chain link fence. A cedar fence would look very out of place in this "chain link city". Another reason for the chain link is the fact that it would be more durable than a cedar fence. Being that this is a baseball field, there is likely to be foul balls that will end up in the area of the Site. Unlike a cedar fence, a chain link fence would hold up to this "abuse". Not only is this a baseball field, but it is also a high school. Unfortunately, there is always the possibility of vandalism and a cedar fence would be much easier to vandalize (spray paint, etc.) than a chain link fence. I am sure after evaluating the above reasons for Poudre High School's request, you will agree that a chain link fence is a more viable option for this particular site. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns.
