My wife and I reside in a town house at 2139 Water Blossom Lane just west of Taft Hill Road and south of
Drake. We just learned of the proposed rezoning request on Taft Hill through our neighbor, Susan Taylor.
We never received a notice from the city regarding the meeting that was held at Blevins Jr High on August
19, 2002. If we had received a notice, we would definitely have attended the meeting. Very few residents
in our subdivision, Hampshire Pond East, were aware of this meeting. The subdivision of individual
homes, to our west, were not included for the notice of the meeting either.
We moved to this location because of the freedom from traffic congestion that is very evident in most
parts of the city. And for that very reason we strongly object to rezoning from low to medium density. The
possibility that apartment complexes could be built at this location would more than double the available
housing and attract more college students resulting in a significant increase of traffic.
We already have eight townhomes on our street that are being rented to college students so we know first
hand how that impacts parking and traffic.
