RESOLUTION 91- 18
OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
NAMING AN ALLEY LOCATED IN DOWNTOWN FORT COLLINS
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fort Collins has been petitioned to
assign a name to the alley in downtown Fort Collins located behind the building
on the west side of the 100 block of North College Avenue; and
WHEREAS, as redevelopment of downtown Fort Collins progresses, businesses
are expected to locate in shops and offices which will gain access from this
alley; and
WHEREAS, this alley will be the main pedestrian thoroughfare between public
parking areas along Mason Street and shops and offices on College and Mountain
Avenues; and
WHEREAS, the City has recently received a $28,000 Community Development
Block Grant to upgrade the alley to make it safe and pleasant for pedestrians;
and
WHEREAS, local historians have been consulted and have agreed that the
contributions to the City by Mr. R.Q. Tenney fully justify and support the naming
of the alley "Tenney Court"; and
WHEREAS, utility companies have no objection to this request and emergency
service agencies have indicated that the naming of the City's alleys will
facilitate responses to emergency situations; and
WHEREAS, the rights of the residents of the City of Fort Collins will not
be prejudiced or injured by the assignment of a name to said alley.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT COLLINS
that the presently unnamed alley in downtown Fort Collins, located generally
behind the Opera Galleria and Woolworth Buildings and specifically behind the
buildings on the west side of the 100 block of North College Avenue, be, and it
hereby is, named "Tenney Court".
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Fort
Collins this 5th day of February, A.D. 1991.
