Terracon provided the services on an "as requested" basis. Our services on the project site have included performing laboratory testing of the soils for suitability to the project specifications and the Geotechnical Engineering Report recommendations (Project No. 20035096; dated June 13, 2003) performed by Terracon. Terracon also performed in -place field density testing during the foundation backfill placement to check maximum density and moisture control. As recommended in the soils investigation, at least 3-feet of controlled fill material shall be placed below all footings. Based upon observations and laboratory testing, on -site or approved imported soils were suitable for placement during construction. Laboratory tests indicated backfill material observed by Terracon met the recommendations as outlined in the geotechnical report. The results of the field and laboratory testing were forwarded for review. In addition, the on -site superintendent and subcontractors were informed on a daily basis of the test results performed. Terracon performed 19 in -place density/compaction tests for the building foundation backfill during construction. The tests were performed on an as requested basis by Drahota. The tests at the locations performed, indicated that the compaction and water (moisture) content recommended in the geotechnical report recommendations were met at the time of testing, or upon performing retests. Based upon the limited tests and observations performed, results indicate suitable materials and specified compaction at the locations tested. Our test results represent only the materials at the location and time of testing. Terracon did not direct nor control the fill placement and compaction at the site and does not assume responsibility for the placement, compaction or control of the fill materials. Areas of fill which are not representative of our testing may exist, particularly in common fill areas such as slopes or landscaped outside of proposed construction. The foundation type and specific design for each structure will be recommended based on the particular characteristics of the soil type at foundation depth, and on the basis of further evaluations and observations prior to construction. Delivering Success for Clients and Employees Since 1965 More Than 70 Offices Nationwide The Winslow Garage E Compliance Summary Project No. 20041066 Page 2 Concrete lferracon The Portland cement concrete placed and tested on -site consisted of 2 tests for physical property and compressive strength tests for the foundation footings, walls and slab -on -grade. The reports indicate the specified minimum compressive strength requirements as reported by Drahota for the project have been achieved. Reinforcing Steel Terracon provided reinforcing steel placement observation in structural concrete placements as requested. The observations performed were observed to be in compliance per the provided plans and specifications for the project and have been formally reported to the client and designated parties. It is recommended that the project structural engineer review the test reports for acceptance as meeting the project criteria. Foundation Terracon provided observation of the foundation spread footing foundation(s) excavations as requested during construction. A summary of the observations and recommendations were provided in written reports upon completion. Per Terracon's geotechnical report and observations performed, spread footings that Terracon observed have been placed in general accordance with the plans and specifications and were placed on the anticipated bearing material identified in our geotechnical report. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of providing test data and observations to document portions of the earthwork, concrete and foundation construction operations conducted for the proposed project. The opinions and conclusions presented have been derived in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical and material engineering practice. No other warranty expressed or implied is made. In the event that there are any changes in the nature or design of the project, the conclusions contained in this report shall not be considered valid unless this firm reviews such changes, and the conclusions of this report are modified or verified in writing. This letter is prepared for the exclusive use and reliance of our client. Use or reliance by any other party is prohibited without the written authorization of our client and Terracon.
