HomeMy WebLinkAboutFRONT RANGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, PARKING LOT EXPANSION - SITE PLAN ADVISORY REVIEW - 10-06 - SUBMITTAL DOCUMENTS - ROUND 1 - PLANNING OBJECTIVESr- Front Range Community College Project Narrative March 30, 2006 The plan is designed to upgrade the existing gravel overflow parking lots, improve traffic flow throughout the parking lots, and increase the number of parking paved parking spaces available for FRCC students and campus visitors. background As shown in the construction plans, Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be redesigned to include additional handicap and motorcycle parking and an internal drive to efficiently connect the east and west parking areas near the building. To improve circulation at the main campus entrance, the west entrance will be redesigned to replace the existing curved tee intersection. The Transfort bus stop will be relocated onto Shields Avenue. The proposed construction and rehabilitation of the parking lots will add 761 new paved regular parking spaces at Lots 2 and 5. Eleven additional handicap spaces will be constructed. Additional existing site areas will be utilized to construct the new parking lots. Proposed Lot 2 will be located in a portion of the open field east of Shields Street. This area is currently being utilized for overflow parking and will provide 313 spaces. Lot 5 will be constructed as a permanent paved parking lot with 448 parking spaces.
