Tracy Young was also asked to work on this committee and decided she could not at this time. To date, all the students currently attending Cottonwood Plains, Laurene Edmondson, and Lincoln that reside in the areas that will be served by this new school were given a personal letter inviting them to participate in submitting names for the new school. In the Reporter -Herald this morning there was an insert below the article on the BOE meeting tomorrow evening inviting anyone within the community to submit names. On October 25th there is a neighborhood meeting hosted by the City of Fort Collins regarding this school and I will be present soliciting naming proposals. A deadline of November 6th has been placed on the receipt of these name proposals and all names must be in writing with a justification regarding its appropriateness. If anyone approaches you with naming ideas have them put their school name and reason why it is a good name in writing and either email it to me or bring/send it to the Administration Bldg. Since this is not a contest or a popularity vote, people have the option, or not, to identify themselves as the submitter. Jerry will be out-of-town through November 15th and I'd like to be able to meet as a committee before the Thanksgiving week. This means I need you to check your calendars and let me know your ability to attend a committee meeting on either the 16th or 17th of November. At this meeting I will ask that we establish naming criteria before reviewing the names submitted. It is my hope that we can also complete our assigned task of providing 3 recommendations to the BOE before adjourning this meeting. I look forward to hearing from you regarding the Nov 16th or 17th and working with you to provide excellent name recommendations for the Board.
