Dear Bill,
As you know I visited your construction site referenced above many times during the
course of the project. I saw the excavation and the foundation forms with bars tied. I saw
your framing work at several different stages. I consulted with you about framing details
and changes. We discussed a couple of challenges that involved fixes to the existing
house.
The soils are a light brown sandy clay, consistent with all of the soils I have seen in that
neighborhood. This soil is also in accord with my design assumptions and should be
capable of supporting the design loads.
In general I am extremely impressed with the framing work and all of the other work on
this project. I find the project very exciting. You and subcontractors have done an
exceptional job. Congratulations.
I believe that the new addition will comply with the applicable portions of the 2012
International Residential Code and with good engineering and construction practices.
