I don't have specific details about any recent crashes at Linden/Vine. We have a couple of months of lag time between when crashes occur and when they get put into our system. The last crash I have a record of there was in May. Looking back over the last three years (2009 — 2011) the intersection had a slightly higher crash frequency than expected when compared to other comparable intersections (2.1 crashes/year vs. an expected 1.7 crashes/year). It ranked 151h in our unsignalized intersection crash list and 58`h overall (considering signalized intersections as well). We did clean up the sight distance issue that you noted. However, we don't have any plans at this time for any other changes there. We don't anticipate any issues with the offset. Starting from a stop, motorists have plenty of distance to adjust their position as they traverse the intersection. We have other locations with similar offsets that seem to work fine. A good example is at Linden/Jefferson where we have a similar (but perhaps more severe) offset but no issues that I'm aware of related to the offset. I hope that answers your questions. If not, or if you need more information please let me know. Sincerely, Joe Olson, P.E. Traffic Engineer City of Fort Collins
