Our understanding is that an upcoming meeting on historic preservation of the farmhouse will offer an opportunity for concerned neighbors to provide input on the many open issues related to its retention. Conaty load 11 Fort Collins, 90 80524 Phone (970)407-0531 September 5, 2000 Mr. Tom Dougherty Tom Dougherty Construction 220 East Mulberry Street Fort Collins, CO 80524 Dear Mr. Dougherty: On August 28, 2000, an advance copy of our letter providing initial neighborhood comments on your "Gillespie Farm - Overall Development Plan (ODP)" was hand -carried to your office. We wanted to provide written comments as soon as possible rather than delay the letter while gathering supporting signatures from affected property ownerstneighborhood residents. This letter transmits the original of our August 28th letter along with these supporting signatures. You had expressed your disappointment at the small turnout of affected property owners at the August 23, 2000, neighborhood meeting. At this meeting, I stated that the small turnout of affected property owners did not reflect the high neighborhood interest in this ODP. Based on subsequent discussions with many of these people, we believe the small turnout may have been mainly due to a lack of specific information on the scope of the ODP in the notification letter from the City of Fort Collins. Additionally, there were many people out of town at the time of the meeting, including some who will be very involved in providing future input to this ODP. We were very pleased to verify, as you can see from the signatures, that there is a great deal of neighborhood interest in your proposed ODP. All of us on North County Road (NCR) 11 across from the ODP and many neighbors, especially from Richard's Lake Road and other nearby streets, have expressed their support of our letter. We welcome the opportunity to work with a developer who seeks neighborhood input, and we would be pleased to work closely with you by establishing a small neighborhood working group for this effort. Additionally, one part I would like to clarify in our August 28th letter is the fourth item where we commented on retention of the existing farmhouse and related buildings which are now a neighborhood eyesore. The letter inadvertently implies that these concerns were voiced during the actual August 23, 2000, neighborhood meeting. At the meeting, there was limited discussion of the farmhouse (mainly on efforts to evaluate it for historic preservation), and no negative statements were made about the farmhouse (Kathleen Kilkelly who attended the meeting in fact made some positive statements on retaining the farmhouse).
