I had a phone contact and conversation this morning, January 28th, with David Young, a reporter for the Fort
Collins Coloradoan regarding the status of The Grove at Fort Collins, Project Development Plan. I informed
him that the "new" PDP had been submitted in December, 2010 and has been through 1 round of development
review, with that review resulting in a staff comment letter dated January 4, 2011. There are issues associated
with the development plans that must be addressed through another round of review. To date, the
applicant/developer has not yet re -submitted plans based on staffs comments. Also, the applicant is required to
submit a "new" Amended CSURF Centre for Advanced Technology, Overall Development Plan for development
review. If the Amended ODP is approved then the PDP must demonstrate that it is in conformance with the ODP.
To date, an Amended ODP has not been submitted.
I also informed Mr. Young that the owners of Campus Crest, the developer, have engaged in a working
relationship with the Institute for the Built Environment (IBE) at Colorado State University to investigate potential
green build options and applications that could apply to The Grove at Fort Collins project. On January 19, 2011
representatives for IBE and Campus Crest hosted a 5-hour workshop/design charrette for The Grove. There were
approximately 50 people in attendance representing IBE, Campus Crest, the City, neighbors, consultants for
Campus Crest, and CSU students from the IBE and Landscape Architecture programs. As a result of this
workshop IBE and Campus Crest will be hosting future activities related to The Grove at Fort Collins.
