Collins, CO 80522-0580 CH2M HILL 2020 SW Fourth Ave. Third Floor Portland, Oregon, USA 97201 ,;2jtrvice -/,4 /5— Subject: Avago Technologies, Inc. 4380 Ziegler Road, Fort Collins, CO 80525i- New Solvent Storage Building Request for Variance to City of Fort Collins Commercial Building Code Green Amendments Dear Mr. Gebo, CH2M HILL is preparing construction documents for a new Solvent Storage Building for Avago Technologies, Inc (Avago). The new Solvent Building will be a pre-engineered metal building constructed on the existing foundations east of Building 4 on the Avago campus. On behalf of Avago Technologies, CH2M HILL requests a variance to Items 5, 7, and 15 required by the city of Fort Collins Commercial Building Code Green Amendments (Green Amendments). CH2M HILL submits the following for your consideration. Item 5 - Building Envelope; Air Barrier: Requires continuous air barrier system with air tightness testing per city of Fort Collins standard. Leakage must not exceed 0.25 cfm/sf at 75 Pa (0.3 inches WC). The Green Amendments require 'Building Testing the completed building and documenting that the air leakage rate of the building thermal envelope does not exceed 0.25 cfm/sf under a pressure differential of 0.3 in. water (1.57 Ib/sf) (0.02 L/s-m2 under a pressure differential of 75 Pa) in accordance with ASTM E779 or an equivalent approved method." CH2M HILL requests a variance to meet the requirement for continuous air barrier and air leakage testing. Justification: • The Solvent Building is an H2/H3 Occupancy. The building code requires the building mechanical system exhaust the building at a nominal 6 air changes per hour or 14,000 cfm (2.25 cfm/square foot of building area) to prevent the accumulation of flammable solvent fumes.
