Note: 1.) Tests of greater distance were not performed on the S8000 due to confines of
shelter. 2.) Higher sound measurements could be due to close proximity of sheltler
walls to the equipment.
In summary, the Nortel S12000 and S8000 while in service are very quiet. The operating
sounds produced by each of these can be compared to the sounds produced by household
refrigerators. At distances greater than twenty feet, the equipment sounds are inaudible.

Project: Sound Testing of T Mobile Radio Equipment
Dear Ms. LeBlanc,
On April 6, 2006 sound tests were performed on field installations of T Mobile Radio
Equipment. The Nortel S12000 and Nortel S8000 were the specific models tested. Each model
was tested while in operation; the specific sites selected were isolated to eliminate sound from
other sources. Both tests were conducted on equipment installed in interior locations. The
ambient temperature was approximately 68' F; the relative humidity was approximately 17%.
A Tripod mounted Digital Sound Level Meter was used for all measurements. The tables
below summarize the test results.

I hope you are feeling better this morning. During the hearing last night, one guest had requested
additional information on the decibel/noise level of the proposed radio equipment. I had indicated
to her that the noise level is very similar to that of a refrigerator fan motor. I have attached a
signed and stamped third party noise level study conducted at a T-Mobile site currently in
operation. As stated in the letter, from a distance of 25' or greater, the sounds are inaudible. The
staff report indicates the nearest residential property is located approximately 100' from the
proposed T-mobile facility.
