On June 30 2010 1 visited the referenced site as requested The purpose of this visit was to
determine the feasibility of cutting a new window in the basement wall
The house is a one story wood framed structure with a full basement The basement wall is
8 thick cast in place concrete
The new window is to be about 36 wide by 48 tall and placed in the location of existing
40 wide by 18 tall windows by on the north wall of the building near the west end The
existing opening will not be widened only made deeper The north wall does not support
floor or roof
Based on the proposed window and existing construction it is my opinion it is feasible to cut
the window in the proposed locations The existing rim joist is adequate to support the wall
load above A pressure treated 2x8 trimmer should be installed each side of the window

This report has been prepared based on observations of the portions of the structure visible
and with generally accepted engineering practices in the area Should different information
become available the opinions and recommendations contained in this report should be
reviewed and modified or supplemented as necessary No warranty or guarantee express
