President cc: Addressee (2) April 8, 2005 Colorado Custom Homes 1204 West Ash Street, Suite I Windsor, Colorado 80550 Attn: John Tschetter Re: Foundation Excavation Observation 4144 Center Gate Court Northern Colorado Geotech Project No. 022-05 Northern Colorado Geotech 2956 29th Street, Unit 21 Greeley, Colorado 80631 Phone: (970) 506-9244 Fax: (970) 506-9242 On April 5, 2005, a representative of Northern Colorado Geotech performed an excavation observation for a residence under construction at the above referenced site in the The Gates Subdivision in Fort Collins, Colorado. The soil exposed at the upper footing level consisted of sandy lean clay. The material at the lower footing levels consisted of clayey sand with gravel. These materials are similar to those encountered during the subsurface exploration at the site (Soils and Foundation Engineers Project No. 1419-12- 02-02-P). Based on our observations and the recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report, it is our opinion that the proposed residence may be supported by a spread footing foundation system. The foundation should be designed in accordance with the recommendations and specifications provided in the geotechnical engineering report. Groundwater or bedrock was not encountered within two feet of the lower footing level. However, as a precaution, we recommend the installation of an exterior perimeter drain around the lower level of the structure. The dewatering system should be constructed in accordance with recommendations of the geotechnical engineering report.
