On April 5, 2005, a representative of Northern Colorado Geotech performed an excavation
observation for a residence under construction at the above referenced site in the The Gates
Subdivision in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The soil exposed at the upper footing level consisted of sandy lean clay. The material at the lower
footing levels consisted of clayey sand with gravel. These materials are similar to those encountered
during the subsurface exploration at the site (Soils and Foundation Engineers Project No. 1419-12-
02-02-P). Based on our observations and the recommendations of the geotechnical engineering
report, it is our opinion that the proposed residence may be supported by a spread footing foundation
system. The foundation should be designed in accordance with the recommendations and
specifications provided in the geotechnical engineering report.
Groundwater or bedrock was not encountered within two feet of the lower footing level. However, as
a precaution, we recommend the installation of an exterior perimeter drain around the lower level of
the structure. The dewatering system should be constructed in accordance with recommendations of
the geotechnical engineering report.

Gentlemen:
On April 14, 2005, Weeks & Associates observed the perimeter drain at the referenced site.
Observations indicated a 4" diameter perforated pipe had been placed around the exterior
perimeter of the basement foundation and sloped to the sump pit at the northwest side of the
basement. The drain pipe installation is in substantial accordance with the perimeter drain
recommendations for the project. In addition, the exterior of the basement foundation walls had
been damproofed.
If I can be of further assistance please contact me.
