It is our understanding the pool is to be a maximum of seven (7) feet deep. Based upon the imposed loads and soil conditions encountered at the site, it is recommended the pool be constructed with 6-inch thick gunite walls and floor and a 1211x12" bond beam around the top perimeter of the pool. The gunite should be 8-1/2 sack, 4000 psi mix. The walls and floor of the pool should be reinforced with a #4 40 Grade reinforcing bar at 91, o.c. horizontal and vertical. The bond beam should be reinforced with six #4 reinforcing bars continuous. In addition, it is recommended an 8-inch gravel bed be placed below the pool, and the pool be provided with a hydrostatic pressure relief valve as recommended in our geotechnical investigation for the site (see ELI Project No. 7743). It is our understanding that in Buildinqs A and B, three 9-1/2" laminated veneer lumber beams and two 2"x10"s were substituted for a 4"x10" select structural Doug fir beam and two 2"x10"s. It is our opinion the laminated veneer lumber beams substitution is equal to or exceeds the 4"x10" select structural Doug fir beam. In addition, we understand three 1-3/4"x14" laminated veneer lumber beams were substituted for a 6"x14" Doug fir beam. It is our opinion the laminated veneer lumber beams equal or exceed the 6"x14" Doug fir beam. It is our understanding the 2"x6" gable overframing on all the units constructed to date were placed on two layers of 5/8" oriented strand board over the trusses. Based upon the imposed loads and the maximum 24' span of the gable, it is our opinion the 5/8" O.S.B. is riot adequate to support the imposed loads. On future construction, it is recommended a 2"x10" nailer be laid flat on the roof to receive the ends of the 2"x6" overframing rafters. On the existing roofs, 2"x4" blocking should be placed on edge between the trusses beneath each end of the 2"x6" overframing rafters. The blocking should be end nailed with two 16d nails.
