Dear Jim,
please use this letter as necessary to respond to any questions that arise conctming the letter written by Dan Oraham, of Old Time
Sheetmend. regarding a Gasthe/Goodman installation at JFK parkway.
A 2 psi gas piping system utilizes a "pounds to inches" Maxitrol regulator to adjust the inlet pressure (1 to 2 lbs.) to a factory set
outlet pressure of 8"w.c. for narmal gas installations. Assuming the system is installed per Gastitc and Maxitrol specifications, there
would he 8" w.c. at the inlet of the Goodman appliance under a no -flow, static condition. The 8"w.c. Gastitc line sizing table allows
for a maximum 3" we, drop, between the outlet of the regulator and the appliance. Therefore, under full flow condition the pressure
in front of each appliance would he equal to or greater than 5"w.c., depending on the langdo, and of course no greater than 8" w.e.. If
The contractor is not experiencing these ranges of performance, I would like to explore the possibility of an installation error or d
defective regulator. This range of 5" to 8" w.c. is acceptable per the AGAIANSI I.CI specification for this type of installation, a$
well as the Goodman Manufacturing Co. if you should have further questions on this, you can contact Richard Folks, the Goodman

As for the accusation that the regulator is a "non lock -down" regulator, this is incorrect. The Maxitro1325 Series regulators deliver
dead cnd lock up to the 65 psi emergency exposure limit. This information can be acquired from Maxiuol's product bulletin
MS2055 3196, or by speaking with Maxitroi's Technical Representative, Richard Mathison at (810) 356.1400.
A 2psi Gastite installation installed in accordance with the Gastite Design and Installation Guide is the safest gas piping .system
available. This is due to the stainless steel product integrity and the reduced number of fittings in any installation. A "pounds to
inches" regulator even improves safety as it can function as secondary protection to appliances in the very unlikely event the meter
service regulator fails.
'l'hc installation of Gastite flexible gas piping system per our installation guidelines is to code, as our product is approved in the
Uniform Mechanical Code 19% as well as every model code across the United States and Canada, less UPC where the product is
only listed. Additionally, it's use is covered by NFPA54 and ANSIIAGA LCI. We have suaxssfully completed 75.000 residential
installations to date across the U.S..
