Re: 648 Heather Court
Dear Terry,
Thank you for your reply. There was a lack of communication when the inspector
reported the problem with the air conditioner to me. I thought it was a new replacement
not an existing unit. We have never allowed moisture / condensation to be taken to a
craw:lspace whether it is from a water heater, a furnace,- or an air conditioner condensate
coil. There are health, safety, and structural issues involved, not to mention the "m"
Word mold.
1 am retracting the building code violation and noting in the records as to the reason. No
permit .will be required to make the proper corrections. I do strongly urge you to make
the necessary corrections as soon as possible for your own protection- I again reiterate
what Roy would have said, that the condensate needs to go to an approved .drain location.
or be Clay lighted to the exterior.
If you have any further questions or concerns please- call me at 416-2348.
Sincere!-,,,

CERTIFIED MAIL
Dear Mr. Hancock,
Reference is made of your letter, Building Code Violation, dated June 10, 2003 (which
was postmarked June 11, and reached us on June 13), regarding the "installation of an air
conditioner/ compressor without permit."
(1) The air conditioner/compressor was purchased from and actually installed by Poudre
Valley Air sixteen years ago (in 1987), which also very recently installed a dry -air
furnace in our house. Since Inspector Roy (221-6760) instructed us to ask them to get a
permit to correct the installation, we established contact with the company.
(2) Matt Fisketson of Poudre Valley Air says (i) that back in 1987, there was no such
inspection requirement, and (ii) that the company is in no position to buy a permit for the
installation made so many years ago. Matt says he left a phone message to Inspector
Roy explaining the whole situation in great detail. Hence, although Inspector Roy has
not yet replied him (at the time of this writing), the inspector must be fully informed
about this.
(3) Your letter indicates that "These Code violations shall be corrected by 06/08/2003."
But this is impossible since your letter was sent to us on 06/10/2003 and received on
06/13/2003. Poudre Valley Air definitely needs more time to correct the installation, if it
is still required (i.e., if the "grand father" clause does not apply).
(4) Please advise us what we are supposed to do now. It would be greatly appreciated
if you could straighten out the situation.
Thank you.
