October 29, 2003 Abbco 3324 Shallow Pond Drive Fort Collins, Colorado 80528 Project No: 1526-25-26-04 Gentlemen: RECEIVED NOV 1 0 2003 consulting engineers On October 24, 2003, & October 28, 2003, we visually observed the excavation at Lot 6, Block 2, Fossil Lake Ranch, (3230 Shallow Pond Drive), a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of this observation was to verify that the subsurface conditions encountered in the excavation are generally consistent with those outlined in the soils report performed by Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc., Job No. 1526-25-26-01, dated August 20, 2003. This letter is not intended to be a summary of the soils report and does not meet the disclosure requirements of Colorado Senate Bill 13, 6-6.5-101. At the time of our observation, the excavation had been completed. The garage level excavation and the basement level excavation revealed slightly moist to moist silty clay. Groundwater was not observed within the excavation. These subsurface conditions exposed in the excavation appeared to be generally consistent with those described in the above referenced soils report, which recommends a balanced spread footing type foundation system for these subsurface conditions. It is our opinion that an exterior perimeter drain is required for this structure and should be installed as specified in the above referenced soils report. We recommend that damp -proofing be installed at the foundation walls for all below grade, habitable living areas per UBC. All other recommendations provided in the original report, which are applicable, should be adhered to. Thank you for consulting with us on this phase of the project.
