HomeMy WebLinkAbout1439 CATALPA CT - SPECIAL INSPECTIONS - 4/1/2002SCOTT, COX & ASSOCIATES, INC. consulting engineers CAr April 1, 2002 Larry Watson 2651 West Lake Fort Collins, Colorado 80521 Project No: 5322-01-01-03 Dear Mr. Watson: On March 26 and March 27, 20 2, we visually observed the excavation at Lot 88, The Ponds at Overland Trail, (1439 Catalpa , a subdivision of Fort Collins, Colorado. The purpose of this observation was to verify that the subsurface conditions encountered in the excavation are generally consistent with those outlined in the soils report performed by Scott, Cox & Associates, 1. r is not intended to be a Inc., Jobs report 5 rt and does otmeet ated he disclotober 0sure0requirements0is eof Colo ado Senate Bill 13, summary 6.5- of the soils repo 101. At the time of our observation, the excavation had been mostly completed. A portion of the garage level excavation revealed slightly moist, very sandy clay with silt. The basement level excavation revealed moist limestone bedrock strata. The garage area and a portion of the basement excavation was being over excavated to the limestone bedrock strata. We recommend washed these areas to be brought back up to the original grade with e above referenced soils report.'tGroundwataggregate. was not observed be placed in accordance with th within the excavation. These subsurface conditions exposed in the excavation appeared to be generally consistent with those described in the above referenced soils report, which recommends a balanced spread footing type foundation system for these subsurface conditions. It is our opinion that an exterior perimeter drain is required for this structure and should be installed as specified in the above referenced soils report. We recommend that damp -proofing be installed at the foundation walls for all below grade, habitable living areas per UBC. All other recommendations provided in the original report, which are applicable, should be adhered to. Thank you for consulting with us on this phase of the project.
