The City Manager has referred your letter dated January 25, 1974
to me for reply. In the referenced letter, which was addressed
to the City Council, you furnish an evaluation of a failure which
occurred in a copper water tube installed as a water service line
at 911 Aikin, a property belonging to Mr. Vance Phipps.
The purpose of this letter is to thank you for the information
contained in your report and to suggest that future correspondence
of.this type by routed back along the channels through which the
request for evaluation was routed. Our City Council does not con-
cern itself with technical matters and is in fact puzzled as to
why you felt they would have an interest in the matter. For your
information, the Fort Collins Plumbing Inspector routinely obtains
a sample of all tubing failures and furnishes them by agreement
to the C. D. A. representative in this area so that he remains
current on failures.
I suggest that if your procedures require a direct reply to the
jurisdiction, it should always be addressed to the Plumbing Inspec-
tor and NOT to the City Council. Again, thank you for your infor-
mative reply.
