Gentlemen:
On April 11, 2000, a representative of Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc. conducted visual spot
observations of the drilling and installation of the ten (10) inch diameter piers for the new
residence under construction at Lot 36, Hearthfire, (1327 Town Center Drive), Larimer County,
Colorado. The purpose of these observations was to assure that the piers were drilled correctly
for the subsurface conditions encountered and to assure that the piers were constructed according
to the specifications on the foundation plan by Scott, Cox & Associates, Inc., Project No: 1782-
60-01-01.
The- pier drilling_operations encountered sandstone bedrock at depths of one (1) foot to three (3)
feet below the base of various excavation levels. The piers were drilled a total minimum length
of twenty (20) feet with a minimum bedrock embedment of seven (7) feet or until refusal,
whichever was greater. Groundwater levels were encountered in the borings at depths of five (5)
to twenty (20) feet below the excavation. Casing of the borings was not required. Concrete was
being placed with a concrete pumper. Reinforcing steel was being installed in each pier.
As a result of our observations, it is our opinion that the construction of those piers observed
were in general conformance with the plans and specifications. If you have any questions about
our observations or this report, feel free to contact our office.
Sincerely,
SCOTT, COX & ASSOCIATES, INC.
